edit:

actually i think i might get the SSB3000 instead

edit2:

now i think i might just get Pioneer instead: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-BS21-LR-Bookshelf-Loudspeakers-Black/dp/B004MEWZE4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323313709&sr=8-1

But still, what equipment would i need. Also should i not be looking at surround sound parts (basically) to get desktops speakers

Those are all passive speakers so you would need a stereo/power amp or if u wish for room for a 5.1/7.1 set up an AVR/Surround sound receiver L3000.gif Other than audio cables you would need speaker wire

will this unit have enough power? http://www.amazon.com/PCA2-80-Watt-Stereo-Power-Amplifier/dp/B001P2VV50/ref=pd_sim_e_7

i feel like after i get everything buying dedicated computer speakers will just end up being far less expensive
