btw the zo2 looks really good at being able to amp the 990 pros...so it would seem right? with: "As a matter of fact, we tested ZO2 rev3 yesterday with the DT 880s (which are 250ohm). It definitely powered them with the ZO in high gain mode, and the iPod classic's volume at about 85%. It wasn't an ear-splitting or deafening volume, but increasing the player's volume to anything more actually caused the phones to start distorting (i.e., overdriving them)"

^ What do ya think? I Listen to my ipod at like 7 3/4 out of 10. That should be enough right?

You can't have copious amounts of bass and great clarity, +dB bass has to go somewhere. I would say 3/4 of the DnB I listen too is recorded with sub-woofer systems in mind, they don't sound good at all on revealing setups.

I slightly exaggerated with my Zune comment, it looks more like this: Foobar > EQ >  Solid-state desktop amplifier > Sony XB500 ~ With a little fix in the mid-bass region there stellar. They're still not 'bad' directly out of a mobile player. Honestly I'm not sure what you're looking for, I would consider the Sony XB500 the best possible phones for Dubstep and the likes.

Foobar is an audio player, EQ is simply equalization of the frequency rage with an included plugin and you talked about getting a source and amp anyway; just get a good desktop one like the one I use.

I'm currently listening too Mistabishi's Trip album with that very setup, you're missing out! eek.gif
