The JVC HA M750's were my first "real" pair of headphones. Previously, I had just used iPod headphones and cheap 10 dollar headphones from my local grocery store. As such, I was very impressed by...

My opinions
Sound
The sound produced by the HD558 is rich, a bit light, and isn't bloated with bass which is a good thing. It has a crisp treble and punchy bass, very great...

Initial impressions so far - I love them! Warm and musical, great soundstage, and very engaging. This is the sound I was looking for that I wasn't getting from the R-50s, which I've since returned.

Hell yes.
Wish I did the same... i kept my r50 and I still don't think that the twfk driver iems hold a candle to the ba200 or gr07 <--- (ive come to appreciate these lately)
@djvcool, if you like the IE800, then you will love the BA200 just as much. Upon reading, i can say they are similar in a lot of ways. I have never heard the IE800 but will surely be on my wish list

Yep I know I will, that's why I will be having a hard time to NOT buying it
djvkool, that's easy.
For excellent sound quality together with fully shielded can, BA200 gave the best isolation from outside noisy environment and also eliminate others being disturb if playing music loudly, inside your ears. Therefore you'll enjoy more music instead of disturbing others or been disturbing by others.
The BA200 is about 85% to 90% of the SM3 V2's sound quality and that's saying a lot, its an amazing IEM for only $145. Its one of the few top-tiers under $150 imo with the R-50 being another.

I actually think it's closer than 85-90%, and it's really only the "intangibles" of the presentation of the SM3 that makes it a better earphone. It's basically an unbeatable value; I only think that the detail is very slightly lacking in the lower midrange to bass. However, I suspect that the "impedance stabilizing unit" of the big Y-split fame might have something to do with that... I keep wondering what the BA200 would sound like without that thing attached...

I totally agree with that statement, that's exactly why I think the SM3 is better its all down to the presentation and more importantly the 3D imaging and soundstage. Other than that they're very equal.
If something ever happens to my SM3 to where it would cost more than the price of the BA200 to fix it I'd just buy another BA200 instead.
The BA200 does everything the SM3 does but all at about a notch lower. I would say that the SM3 is the most immediate upgrade with a similar sound signature, similar presentation and soundstage. I am thankful I had a pair when my SM3 broke. Edited by Annafrancesca - 1/25/13 at 11:06pm
I thought the UM3X was supposed to be more similar in signature, and that technically they're at a similar level? That's what initially grabbed my attention anyway. Interesting to hear that people experience it differently.
I'm so impressed by the IE800 that I'm thinking of getting the BA200. Either that, or upgrading my AUD-5X to 7X. Difficult choice!

When I had the BA200, I thought they had more in common with the UM2 than the UM3X soundwise and in detail retrieval.
