TDK BA200 - Appreciation Thread - Page 39

With the SM3s, I can certainly understand why.

The BA200s sounds amazing with the SM3 bi-flanges. So far, these tips have given me the best SQ on the Ba200, squeezing out every bit of detail and sparkle and making the bass more forward without being muddy.

have any tried the ba200 with digizoid zo2 , does it sound alot better?

High guys, ive been doing my homework for the past week and finally narrowed down my choice of first BAs to the BA200 or Westone 2 TF.

I have a FiiO E11 amp, other phones include PX-100-II, Philips O'Neal Stretch, Koss Porta Pro, Brainwavz m4, HiSound Popo.

I prefer the sound of the M4 and the Portapro among my inventory. Usually for Electronica, Rock, Classic Rock, k-pop/j-pop, a bit of Hiphop, jazz, sometimes classical.

I was wondering which would fit my bill? locally i can get the BA200 for $200 and W2 at $250.

Between the BA200 and the W2, there's really no competition --- with the exception of the cable, the BA200 far and away is superior, unless you really, really prefer a warmer, less clear sound. Even so, with Comply tips, there's no lack of smooth warmth with the BA200.

The SE425 is closer in competition, at least to me. The W2 tries to overcompensate for itself by trying to sound full-bodied, but it really shouldn't, as it takes away from the overall clarity of the earphone.

Where do you live? While the BA200 is definitely worth $200, most people can get it for way less.

I tell you in this crazy IEM world you never know which ear tips are going to do the most justice for optimum sound on a pair of earphones. I rarely find that the stock tips are the best for a pair of earphones (one acceptance would be the specially made stock tips for the JVC FXD80/70). So I've been tip rolling on the BA200. Brief results are that the small tip diameter hole on the Westone grey silicons, the long light-grey Complys, and the Earportz long silicon tips sound the best on the BA200 to my ears. And still, the Earportz win out in keeping those great mids intact along with bringing out the bass.

But while tip rolling, I got curious about what larger TDK black double-flanges would sound like on the W4 (with it's narrow tip opening, because I generally believe the wider the tip opening the better). Well let me tell you I was in for a pleasant surprise! The TDK double-flange gave my W4's the most open, transparent, full, clear sound that I've heard come out of the W4. It increases the bass just enough (the Earportz give more), but the nothing has made that earphone sound so clear (the stock bullet silicons come close). So just some observations. The W4 is still the best sounding to me, but the BA200 is ooooh so close, which says a lot for the TDK since it's a little less than half of the W4's price (when the W4 is on sales at $350).

By the way>>>>> HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

South East Asia, Phils.

BA200 =2 vs W2 =0

One more thing, how's the durability on these things? I've tried googling but i havent found any build issues.

I'm hoping for these at least 3 years or so.

Philippines?

I'm from PH as well and I got the BA200 from Egghead.. too bad that the same week i got the money to buy it the price increased. Anyway, it's a good buy. It's my replacement for my broken UM3X and I'm really happy with it. I did have a problem with the extension cord though. Doesn't seem like anyone else has experienced this problem but while I was listening to it, the left earpiece just died. When I inserted it directly to my player(minus the extension cord) it worked fine. Egghead was kind enough to replace the extension though they gave me the demo version of it instead as the accessories only have a week's worth of warranty.

How do these compare to the X10? Are they worth $45 more?
