I have over 400 hours of listening time on the old version vs. 100 hours on the new BA200. In terms of SQ, the new BA200 retains the smoothness, clarity, and bass of the old version.  The only difference that I've observed between the two is that for me, it seems that the new BA200 is less forgiving on the quality of the audio file.  With the old BA200, I could listen to music with 192kbps mp3 quality without any issue. However with the new BA200, I could definitely hear the distortion whenever I played those audio files with 192kbps. Just to make the issue is not because of a defective IEM, I've listened to numerous orchestra albums ( FF - Distant Worlds, Journey OST ) with FLAC format, and I've not heard any distortion when playing the music.

You mentioned that you have with you the R50 from Rock It Sounds. I am interested to know how you feel about the two comparatively. Im currently deciding between either one as an up/sidegrade for my RE0s

The stock dual flange tips simply aren't cutting it for me, so I ordered the highly recommended westone star tips. Any other tips you guys would like to recommend, I'm using the stock vsonic gr07 light blue tip in the meantime, sounds great so far.

Has anyone here gotten their ba200 reshelled yet? Im interested in getting them reshelled perhaps with an additional high frequency driver. Ive noticed the sound changes dramatically with different tips so dont how it will deal with acrylic

I think they would sound really good in an acrylic shell. However, reshelling them is going to be pretty expensive. Around $150? That's more than the BA200 is worth. I'd personally rather safe some money for some good cIEMs like cosmic ears BA4r or 1964-V3, while enjoying the BA200s. Both of them are around $400, but sound quite a bit better than the BA200s.

That is true, but it would still be interesting. Though I would really like to hear them with an additional tweeter.

You'd figure TDK would be doing just that. Have to think a triple driver TDK phone is not far off. That one should be very interesting. A good reshell candidate as well if the good TDK pricing stayed true for a three driver model.

Yeah I'd be very excited if they were but I don't think TDK will be coming out with any new flagships soon. The thing is that their market hasn't really gone that far out yet (at least not outside of headfi). And now if they were to come out with a triple driver, I don't think consumers would invest in the TDKs instead of more established companies like Westone and especially Shure. However I could be wrong if TDK priced their triple ba at a lower price segment than the other triple BAs. That could be a real game changer.

and speaking of prices, TDK has never changed their 250 msrp of the ba200s, and yet the prices keeps on getting lower. I wonder why is that.

My ba200's extension cable is dead, anyone also experienced it? Did you ask for another TDK extension cable or used a DIY extension cable instead?

Yup. I contacted TDK, still under warranty; they didn't have any replacement cables to send me, so I sent back the whole IEM and they sent me a brand new one.

My BA200 is also still under warranty but when I called TDK / Imation here in Philippines, they gave me this kind of cable and I don't know where did they get this (I'm expecting that they'll give me the same cable included on the package). It's gold plated though but everytime I'm using it, I always yearn for more bass impact. I think they didn't understand me well when I called them frown.gif

I am also excited for you to review those TDK IEM'S. Would I benefit from an amp such as the FiiO 17 or the e7 using my ba200's and re400's? I use an HTC one as my player. Mostly 320kbps

Still at $122 on Amazon and I really like mine. There may be better but at what price does one have to pay to

get lots better performance. It's that cost to benefit ratio that I always work with. It WILL be interesting to see how the NEW Visonics

will match up when they come out in January...

Yes definitely. Can't speak for the 17 but I used it with an e7 and the biggest improvement I've heard was the bass. The ba200 showed more bass quantity and texture. However I do feel the extra bass muddies the lower mids and made the ba200 quite a bit warmer.
