Amp 4 Gaming Needs

PS3 Gaming realted only, (no XBOX or PC)

So i have been reading a lot of thread on this forums, and i have narrowed it down to 2 headphones for my gaming (PS3) purposes

1. Sennheiser HD555

2. Audi Technica AD700

I am incling towards the Senn HD555, Now the problem is I need to know which Amplifier will give me the most bang for my buck, and squeeze out the best performance from these two headphone. I know both are low on Bass, but these are going to be used for 90% gaming and only 10% for music and movies.

I have been reading up on the Astro Mixamp, but then DTS is not supported on that AMP. Please do let me know which would suit my needs better !!!! Alll suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Okay so after reading up some more on various forums, as well as here, i have concluded on the AD700, i have also come to realise that it is a general consensus that the AD700 are pretty much AMP independent.

Either ways i would like to hook them up with my PS3, so which AMP/DAC would be recommendable for the AD700, main consideration being the most VFM edition for my needs !!

Wait a minute-you need DTS for gaming? So much for the Astro Mixamp and the Turtle Beach Ear Force DSS...

I can only think of two options now:

-Victor/JVC SU-DH1 (JVC version has batteries and no AC adapter input by default, discontinued, not easy to find these days)

-old receiver with Dolby Headphone (Harmon Kardon AVR 254 and AVR 354 being two such receivers; obviously quite bulky, expensive, and probably overkill for a Dolby Headphone DSP, but capable of handling HDMI audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio)

Wow Thanks for your valuable Inputs. the reason i was looking for a DTS one is because i wanted to use my headphones for watching Movies as well. I was also looking at TB DSS as an option in case i don't find a viable DTS option. I have sent an Email to JVC inquiring about the availability of their product. i am not too hopeful though, looks like it has been pulled out of production by JVC.

Coming back to the Amp + DAC,.How does the DSS fair in comparison to the Astro Mixamp Pro ? I mean except the game volume and chat volume mixer, is there a considerable difference in the surround sound reproduced ?

Are there any other Amp + DAC options for pairing a good set of Headphones with the PS3, that give a comparable performance to the Astro Mixamp.
