I just got a pair of Shure SRH750DJ's for christmas haven't even heard them yet. But I have found myself strangely attracted to the V6's and I heard the 7506's are better. I listen to hiphop.. which one of these is better if either is at all,

A question which elicits much disagreement.

Some say that the V6 and 7506 are absolutely identical except for the sticker on the outside of the earcups.

Others say that the 7506 sounds somewhat better, benefiting from closer tolerances and more exact driver matching.

(You can find many articles and tests online with respect to this topic; it's a debate that's been going on for a long time.)

I have both, and IMHO the 7506 is smoother through the upper midrange all the way to the top.

To me, it's worth the extra $25.00 or so.

YMMV.

Others say the V6 sounds better because the way the ground is wired is different between the V6 and 7506.  And some of us have owned both and actually compared both headphones with similar levels of burn in.

I had both.  smile_phones.gif  I thought the 7506 had harsher highs, and that the V6 had a better low end.

So for a hiphop listener which ones are better ?

The V6 wiki says the 7506 has a slightly stronger magnet than the V6. The price difference between the two has narrowed.

Imo the v6 or 7506 is a better idea than the Shure. My V6 is working fine after 23 years. I just needed to change the earpads.

i actually had a v6 and 7506 each with one bad driver. i put the good drivers together and ....

the 7506 is brighter than the v6 and slightly easier to drive

Interesting posts.

I'll listen to my V6 and 7506 again.

Perhaps the V6 is more harsh in the upper ranges, while the 7506 is actually brighter.

Bright is okay as long as the presentation of the music is balanced enough. But the V6, likeable yes but keep the volume low. The V6's sound signature was headache inducing after long listens. I do not understand Sony for making headphones sounding harsh.

If you want the good one from this series by Sony the CD900 ST should be on your wishlist.
