Soundcard to Maverick A1 vs Onboard Audio to Maverick A1?

So I strictly play my music from the computer. Currently my setup is as follows:

Onboard audio -> Maverick A1 -> Fostex T50RP

Would I benefit from say having a soundcard like a Xonar instead of using the onboard audio.

For example the setup would go:

Xonar -> Maverick A1 -> Fostex T50RP

All suggestions are welcome.

I don't have the Fostexes but I run onboard audio from my laptop straight to my A1 and DT880's and I think it sounds darn good.  I often wonder if maybe having a DAC in between might help a bit but I'm betting it wouldn't be a huge change.

I was thinking the same thing. I have some RCA cable from walmart going from the A1 to my onboard now lol
