Real or Fake? - Update on last page, need help - Page 2

Oh look this is my 1,001 post ^^ hurray!

I understand the SE215 is a great value, I'm just not sure if it has the right sound signature. If it was for me I'd have taken it by now. Can you tell me if the bass extends deep? I understand it might be good for rock which relies more on mid-bass, but I was also interested in sub-bass. In any case I'm heavily considering the SE215.

The atrios seem to have not-so-great mids, which would completely ruin indie rock. It's not a priority, but it's essential.

Also thank you person who PM'd me, I'm still looking into your suggestion. Although they seem to be open, I'm considering them.

As for the CC51 they seem great and exactly what I had in mind. Lots of detail is mentioned on every review with a decent ammount and quality of bass. Fit and treble quantity seem to be the only 'buts'.

Thank you all for helping, I'll keep waiting for suggestions and read some more reviews.

A suggestion because I've never heard it - Brookstone Dual Driver.  I was thinking about getting them because they're a fraction of the cost of the Radius DDM, but apparently they lack the bass impact, so I crossed it off the list.  They're about $70, but they have a 25% off coupon now.

I actually got the DDM2 suggestion via PM, but what put me off was the idea that they were open. Since she's a lot of the time in noisy environments, closed would be essential. I might get them anyways even if for myself, especially at 75%!

lack bass impact, that's funny. the only iem i have that comes close is the x10 and the brookstone makes the klipsch bass sound a little hollow; much like a 6" ported speaker compared to a 12' cone woofer. other strange thing about the brookstone ddm that relates to the thread is isolation; i use the single flange uetf10 and blocks 80% of what the ety hf5 do. in other words, much better than any closed full size headphone i've heard and average for any other iem. DnB i hope you get the chance to get them. price is right, bass is all there, on the warm side with just the right decay. ultra comfy since it's modeled after the ddm2 not the ddm1.

i've had them for three weeks, i use them every day for at least a little listen session

i really shouldn't rave about these too much. where i sit i have five full size cans in reach, i have no problem keeping the brookstones in.

i think i use less volume with these because they power up so well.

i just gonna go sit in the corner and wait for a question

LK congrats on the post count....

Have you thought about the NuForce NE-700X? I do not have them, but i have the previous model (NE-7M) and they have lots of bass, nice iems for the price imo, and the new models are supposed to be even better. Dont reconize many of the iems suggested, but maybe someone else can chime in as to how they compare

Only reason i dont use mine anymore is that my Monster Pro Turbine Copper far outclass them.

Thanks RI Toast.  I just got the atrios w/ mg7 so I'm really happy with those.  Rather than get another IEM, I think I'm going to try a ZO2 with them and see what happens.  Although the price on the Brookstone is pretty good..who knows maybe they'll drop a few more bucks and I'll snag 'em haha.

LK sounds like you have lots of good options for your gf.  Good luck!

Yes, one thing I get from this is she'll hardly be disappointed with any of the suggestions. Basically what I'm doing is tuning my choice to be bassy enough for dubstep, but still clear enough for indie. Tough task =) but I should really prioritize the bass since over half her listening is to synthetized music.

At this point I'm leaning mostly into the BsCDD and the SE215. ClieOS described the BsCDD as being mid-centric, which although isn't a bad thing, I'm not sure if it's the best option. He also said the bass extended deep which is great. What I might end up doing is ordering them - or another option - try them and if I think I can get something closer to what I want I'll keep them (a lot of my music is mid-centric) and get something else. Or I'll give the first option to someone else.

I had forgotten about NuForce! I'll read up more on them.

I haven't heard them myself, but don't forget the TFTA ones:

I'm actually going to order one of them myself, to check out the acclaimed "bass monster" title. They don't seem too expensive either. Might be a bit over $100 now that I think of it (hey I'm swedish, I don't deal with neither currency here, LOL), but going to post this suggestion anyway.

I like them, but 100$ is a bit. All the models I'm considering are in the 50$-60$ bracket. I also planned on getting her a Clip+ and a microSD card

Ok I was reading up on the NuForce NE-700 and they seem great. Prominent bass while being detailed and having an overall good sound quality. I got the impression that they had no downsides, which is usually what happens (i.e. bassy tends to lose detail, analytical tends to be bright, etc). However they don't appear to be very comfortable and fit might not be the best.

I also looked into Fischer Audio's Eterna and they seem to be great (9/10 on ClieOS thread!), although I might quite not understand all I read. There are barely any reviews for them on Head-Fi. Would be great if anyone who has heard both commented, but I understand that's nearly impossible. I did get the impression of very deep bass, but not much detail, apparently less than the NE-700. Also I can't find them for sale in the usual websites.

I'm leaning torwards these 2 at the moment, while keeping the BsCDD in mind. I think I'm crossing the SE215 off, I know it's a great IEM for its price but it doesn't seem to be what I want. I don't want to give her something I like and have her think it's too analytical. Besides, it's almost double the price of the other options.

EDIT: Ok the NE-700 seems to have a very consistent build quality issue: one channel stops working. Amazon is crawling with reviews in a row with this problem or similar (sometimes just one, sometimes both), which kind of puts me off. This really seems like an issue and not just bad luck. Also, the reviews with this go up to November 2011 so I doubt that they fixed this problem. I realize they have a good customer service, but ideally you wouldn't even have to know that =)

Ok guy I think I'm pulling the trigger on the Nuforce NE-700x. It just seems like a safer decision, since there are tons of reviews, and I don't need a very specific sound (even though I was really annoying in specifying it), but more of an overall winner, something you can put in any teenager's ears and have him go 'wow'. The sound seems exactly like what I asked for. My only concern is the durability. If these last a year, I'll be ok - the problem is a lot of people seem to say they lasted less than 6 months, and a few go as far as 3 ~ 4 weeks.

Ive had my NE-7M's for over too years now, and never a problem with build quality. I have caught the cable on things quite a few times, even pulling the bud out of my ears, and never any damage to them.

same, i had the NE6, and they got stolen but never broke in the 4 mo's i had them, didn't like the sound signature at all. they were insanely bassy.

So after a while I finally ordered the NE-700x, and I was fine with the price Amazon was asking. What I was not fine with is the fact that shipping is almost 30€, about half of the cost of the IEMs themselves. It really pisses me off that Amazon will only tell you just how much it costs to have something shipped to you on the last page before you make payment - at least eBay is straightforward.

So I tried to find somewhere else, and out of despair I found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NuForce-NE-700X-earphones-/150723480397?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5221960589385035986#ht_576wt_1344

Now I know how eBay is regarded around here, but I can't find any differences between the posted package and photos of a real one (here, here and here). If you watch closely, on the seller's first photo you can even see that the red ring under the strain relief of the earpiece above, on the right, is there. And of course the seller's feedback is pretty good, with only a few negative comments and with him replying to justify each one. However in these situations people only say "arrived in perfect condition!" and I'm much more interested in knowing I'm not getting a Chinese fake, which can happen even though the seller is from the UK. The price is amazing though, which raised my suspicions. Also fake sellers don't always post pics they took themselves for obvious reasons, and I'm pretty sure those are his.

So what do you think? Greatest deal ever, or obvious fake?
