Here's a comment I read on amazon in the review section on the AKG K240 MKII's:
"I have spent so many hours recording/mixing -- I always feel shocked when I trade headphones with my colleagues to check the mix (i.e., trade my K240's for someone else's headphones) -- almost without exception, THEIR non-K240 headphones sound like a bristling, glorious explosion of sound; my K240's sound almost "dull" after that!
But please note -- that is EXACTLY what these headphones are for! When you're listening for FUN, use headphones that make everything bump and grind and ROCK! But when it comes time to mix, I want my K240's, because I want the most accurate monitoring possible. If you try to bump up the bass in your mixes to compensate because you want that "hyped" bass sound, you will probably regret it -- what I mean is, you will find that you've mixed the bass WAY too loud" ~anonymous
This comment was a response to some guy who said that these headphones have like no bass extension, but it seemed as though he wasn't using an amp and he didn't allow them to burn in before making the comment.
Would you agree with this statement?
I'm considering buying these headphones for pure listening pleasure, not to monitor or produce music. Would you consider these headphones "boring" for that purpose? I like my music to sound the way it was meant to sound and have a balanced sound, not recessed or overly amplified. Should I look into a different headphone, or would these headphones sound less "dull" after plugging them into a decent amp and letting them burn in?
Thanks
