Best ultrasone bass?

First you have to figure out what bass you're even wanting to be "best."

A lot of these headphones have a lot of mid-bass, but start to roll off quickly when it comes to sub-bass. Sub-bass is the main pulse you enjoy in bass heavy electronica. We're talking 50hz, 40hz and 30hz. A lot of these headphones have big humps around the 100hz~60hz area. Then roll quickly off, meaning, you lose a lot of volume on the sub-bass as they cannot produce it at the same level. So it's less perceived. If you want an Ultrasone that has good presentation of everything and retains a a high curve down through the sub bass region, look at the Ultrasone PRO 650.

MalVeauX, i'm surprised that you recommend pro650 'cause its the more neutral of the pro serie, the fewest bass of ultrasone imo.

If you want big bass from Ultrasone, go for Hfi580/DJ1 for first price, Pro900/2900 for excellent quality bass (medium/high price)  and ED9/signature pro (high/very high price) for the best bass.

You missed the idea. Biggest mid bass is not always what someone wants. The PRO 650 is a more flat, for an ultrasone, response which is better all around in the audiophile sense. But the sub-bass is also higher. It makes it more akin to things like what Denon does. Bigger sub bass, in my book, is better than a mid-bass hump. Try the PRO 650 if you haven't. I've gone through a few Ultrasones now and the PRO900 really is just not worth it to me, too much mid-bass presentation that takes away from the sub bass and then it's spiked treble. The PRO 650 is just a smoother listen than the PRO900 to me, and it has excellent sub bass. For less green too.

I'm a sub-bass basshead. My favorite, right now, is the Denon D5000 for closed sub-bass and otherwise near linear response for the rest of the spectrum (so that it can be used for anything, not just bass enjoyment).

Gotta try things to get an idea. Part of the hobby.

I have Pro650 20th, and yes its the more flat headphone from pro serie, but i don't see a particularly sub bass with this model.

Yes, its the most relaxing of pro serie, but its also the less engaging if you want a fun listen.

I think "ineedmorebase" want a fun and bassy headphone, not a flat headphone, but i may be wrong.

DJ1 and HFI 580 are identical sounding

DJ1 Pro and Pro 550 are identical sounding

Color and cable (DJ1 is coiled) are the only real differences

580 in particular has a large midbass hump, I found the 550 Pros to not roll off as quickly (bass hump seems flatter).  I don't notice a discernible roll-off until about 35hz although it probably starts around 40-50hz, my ears just aren't sensitive enough to tell.

to TS.  You kind of need to make a decision, there's not one "better" than the other, they're just different.  580/DJ1 are more in your face sounding (think car audio system), 550/DJ1 Pro are more slightly tighter and more spacious (think Home Theater Sub)

At $110 those 550's are a fantastic deal.  That Morgan Page song sounds wonderful on the 550s, I liked them better than the 580's after a while because it reproduced vocals a bit better and was the more effective gaming headphone (I dual purpose as well).

You can't have both quality (gaming and music) in the same time (for 130-150$). Pro550 is better for gaming with a better soudstage, Hfi580 is more fun with a more forward midrange.

You know, I finally realized why I liked listening to electronica on my HD280 so much. It's because of it's great sub-bass. It brings the power. The Pro 900's are just ok. The treble spike gets to me alot, and the Mid-bass is good, but I want more sub-bass. 

May have to try the Pro 650. Realizing I may be a sub-bass head. The Denons do the best job? You like the Denons the best for electronic?

HD280pro, like HD380pro have much more sub bass than Pro650 imo. Don't use headroom graph (if you use it?), its sometimes misleading or Pro650 20th is an other headphone,lol.
