"Fun" headphones for under $500

I currently use the HD 555's and they are getting real boring.

Have had them for 3+ years now.

I have about a $500 limit, but I would like to stay well below that if possible.  (IDK what type of sound quality jump i would get from 300-500)

I will be buying an amp as well, but I don't know which one to get either as I am even more clueless about amps.  (maybe sound card with built in amp like asus stx?)

Keep in mind I will be mainly using this on my computer as I do not have a CD player.

So things I like/dislike sound-wise:

I like a punctual bass that doesn't drown out everything.

I like some treble, but HATE too much of it when the "S" sounds hurts my ears.

I like a lot of texture and color in my music.

Mainly looking for fun, as I can use my HD 555's if I need to lay back and do some relaxed listening.

I will be playing FPS games on it.

Also, If possible, I don't want something that's too old.

Thanks in advance guys!

Ever tried the Sennheiser HD650? It is in your price range and sounds like what you want. You will want to invest a bit into your DAC/Amp tho.

555 is a great beginner grade open headphone, killer price and quality ratio but that's all about it.

thank you, I have heard good things about the HD 650, but I kind of want to branch out to another brand since I already have a sennheiser.

Just want to try out different things since I'm a noobie.

I like music that is in my face sort of... that is not too airy and flat.

purity is also a big plus.
