i went through all the threads and posts regarding this topic ...but im still unclear as to any prominent differences among the 3.

does the hd 681b have a better balanced(and thus a 'warmer' feel in the mids) as compared to the standards? does it have more similarity to the 668b sound?

and what exactly is the 681f ??...hows flat different from balanced? ..is there any differences in the neutrality among the 3?

Hi,

Not sure but,

681 = bassy

681b = balanced

681f = flat (not much low tones)

Can anyone verify this?

greetings to you too...just for my personal knowledge which one would you prefer the hd 681 or the hd 668 b? of course one is ranked in the first ten and the other in the last 80 among the best headphones in head-fi....but is the sound signature very much different?

I only have the 668b, from what I've read either the 681 or 681b, it depends on your taste of music I guess...

i much prefer 681(modded) to 668b. 668B is too thin and harsh compare to 681
