I've used the optical out on chaintech av-710 with my external DAC, through ASIO4ALL for some time, and been happy with that. But now it seems that my sound card has stopped working (can't get any output, but there's still light in the optical out?), so I need a new one. I'd like a card, USB preferably, that just works without any esoteric driver tricks, has good support, and is cheap. I don't need anything other than bitperfect optical output.
Any ideas? I've been looking at the emu 0404 usb, but it's a bit expensive for my purpose. I live in Denmark, so cards available in Europe would be preferable - but if a perfect card can be gotten from the US, that's fine too.
