Any recommendations on a DAP with these specs?

I currently own a Sony S639 16GB and love everything about it. The sound quality is great, it has a 6-band EQ, and it has actual buttons.  The only problem is that I need more memory.  I'd like to find something with a minimum of 32GB.  I'm only interested in playing audio files so sound quality is important.  The EQ is a must.  I would really, really, really prefer to have actual buttons as opposed to a touch screen or wheel.  Beyond this, I don't really care about any other features.

Previously, I owned an ipod Nano and hated everything about it.  I have good IEMs and don't intend on using an amp.  So, after all of that does anyone have any suggestions?  the only thing I've seen so far that fits is the Colorfly C4 but I have to admit that $800 is a little high....

Thanks for the help!

P.S. - I have searched through many threads on this and other forums but I'm having a hard time narrowing them down based on the specs I'm looking for.  So, I apologize if this thread seems redundant.

There's actually quite a bit of choice. You have the Sandisk Sansa players, which all (all? I think?) have microSD slots, so you can have 32GB there plus whatever internal memory there is.

Cowon sells players with high capacity flash drives, too. Such as the S9 and the J3, both available in 32GB (The J3 has a microSD slot, too).

The Cowon players have a reputation of having amazing equalizers and effects. The Sandisk players, i'm not sure, but some of them support Rockbox which will give you a five band EQ.

Then there's Hard Drive based players, too. But i'll leave that to someone else :)

thanks for your reply!

i have seen both the Cowon players.  the only thing i don't like about the J3 is that there are no actual buttons and no ACC compatibility.  since i originally had an ipod, i built my library in itunes.  otherwise, the S9 would probably be my choice.  i need to check out some reviews on the Sansa players to see how  the sound quality is.

anyone have any other ideas?  thanks!

The J3 does have actual buttons for play/pause, forward/backward and volume controls. Also, I think it does support AAC, according to a couple of google search results. Not too sure though, since I don't use AAC myself. I think it has to be DRM free, and there's no album art support.

You could get a 64gb iPod touch.

And use equalizer app or sonicmax pro app (I prefer flacplayer app myself).

Yeah, though i've never tried it myself, it unofficially supports it. Albumart should still work if you use a cover.jpg file, but you can't embed it.

Source.
