Ety hf5 VS. RE0
I'd just get the HF5s for the longevity and built quality. They are very close to top tier sounding as well.
does the re0 has a problem with longevity and built quality?

A few minor cases here and there, fwir. Just do a quick Google search.
The Ety HF5 are of good build quality, not the best, but good enough to withstand
daily abuse.

thanks!
i just got my re0 today but i have a chance to get the hf5 for the same price, so i was thinking about returning them and buy the hf5.
from what i understand on terms of sound quality there's not a big difference (right?),
the isolation of the hf5 pretty much evens out with the worried of them not being comfortable.
what's left is durability and build quality. i'm a little worried the re0 might break of something. is that a good enough reason the trade them?

Hello,
The first series produced had problems, but since they have changed several times the cable and from my point of view I do not think is still a problem today.
With RE0 you need a good source with good EQ for fun, otherwise it is "too much" neutral and too precise in reproduction.

i use an ipod touch and mp3 files, most of them more the 200kbps.
you thing the re0 might not be enjoyable for me?

You said you just got the RE0.
If it sounds too flat/boring to you, then the HF5 isn't going to satisfy you.
Judging from reviews, the HF5 seems to have the edge over RE0 (better isolation, wire, build quality)
but the RE0 is apparently slightly more accurate than the HF5, which imo, is already really accurate.
If you're not into the RE0 sound sig, then the HF5 probably wouldn't suit you. Might want to try the UE/Westones.

Is better if you can add a cheaper Fiio amp (~20$)or if you can Rockbox your Ipod (rockbox.org) for a good equalizer, I never listen an Ipod and the HF5.
But I know that with the RE0 on my Cowon I can get the sound I like and for the price is juste incredible. But you have also to find some earbuds that fit well
your ears. This in order to maximise the basse (Sony hyprid large for me).
The easy road for you is may be the balanced HF5, if you like/need strong isolation also you have find your IEM !
Hop this help.
i didn't open them yet, so there will be no problem if i decide i want a refund.

I totaly agree, you have to know if you like more colored or neutral reproduction.
The Phonak PFE can be also a good choice in this price range and you can change the filters to find the sound you like.
Also the RE0 are very high impedance IEM (60 vs 16 ohm for the HF5)
Your Ipod touch is not suported by Rockbox.
Rockbox runs well on these players, has a complete manual and is supported by the installer:
- Apple: iPod 1g through 5.5g, iPod Mini, iPod Nano 1g and iPod Nano 2g

I have both, and one major plus for the ety hf5 is cable noise, the re0's cable is very microphonic, sometimes distracting if you're moving around. sound quality wise, the ety have a very slight midrange bump, which makes them sound a little warmer, unlike the s4's which I also own, that have a big boost in mids which can be overbearing. The Re0's have the edge in balanced, neutral tone.
