Radio Shack headphone stands - cheap & pretty!

I posted this on Headwize some time ago, but I repeat it for the new crowd...

Get your RS headphone stands. They cost something like $6, and keep your headphones safe and happy. You can bend them for special applications (my Senn 580 and my AKG 501's have had their stands bent for them to stand correctly).

Check them out! Here is my entire headphone collection (on the background two Grado MS-1s, on the front the B&O A8s, the Etys (both in their carrying bags), the AKG's and the Senns.

That's some serious pixellation on the AKGs. Are you trying to censor out something we shouldn't see?

I bought such a stand to prevent the infamous Grado cord mess with my old SR325. I didn't even think of bending it to better serve my present favorite (HD580).

I bought one of the Radio Shack stands after you mentioned them on Headwize awhile back. It worked great on my desk at our old condo (very long desk, lots of room), but since we moved I have a much smaller desk and not much room for cans laying around on it. While looking around for another alternative, I stumbled across some hooks that are simply ideal at Meijers. The hooks are black, flat, and the top hook has a 2"x 1.5" surface that fits all of my cans. The bottom hook is smaller and is ideal for hanging the cable up. Best of all, they were only $2. each. I'll try to post pics of them when I get the chance. I have four of them up currently, and another two ready to go up when I find time/room.

Seeing a post about glass heads got me thinking awhile back how cool that would be for holdong a set of cans, so I started looking on ebay, and stumbled across an internet store that sells black mannequin heads. For $20 I couldn't resist, the head is size 7, extra small, so there shouldn't be much risk of stretching out any of my headphones.

Definitely kinda creepy (my wife is going to freak out when she sees it on my desk), should go pretty well with my Grados. Of course some of the high end "woody" Grados would probably be even more suitable. My new AKG 501's are unique looking enough they might work too.

I've got a glass head from Stone Audio and also have the head below ordered from a guy in Germany.

Elvis lives! I'd love to get one of those, put my Grado's on it and crank up one of my Elvis CD's on repeat and have the Grado's put on an ongoing (low-volume) Elvis concert.

Radio Shack part# for the stand is 43-2005 $5.99 in the 2001 catalog. Seems to be intended for use with telephone headsets, but works great with many cans.

I leave my HD600s along with the cable inside my desk drawer. But for quick trips of non listening, I taped (electric) a plastic 90ยบ plastic clip with another flat plat piece of plastic on the edge on the corner of my computer monitor. Or if I'm in the living room, I just set them on the couch (soft leather) if I'll only be away from them for a little while, otherwise I'll store them.

*that pixelated look isn't raterization, rather the mossiac effect is from JPEG compression. (it blurs and weaves patterns to shrink amount of data it takes to render a digital image)

No... actually, it's so pixellated because I had to stay under the 25K Head-Fi posting limit

I bent my stands for the 580s because I didn't want the velour padding to touch any parts of the stand (call me obsessive...). I bent them for the AKGs so that the metal rods are supported by the stand, and not the leather strap. They are very versatile.

I'd love to have "The King" support for my 580's, tho... I feel they deserve it.

I also left out my "Angry Beaver" stand I use for my HD-490s. But you can see that one in my Avatar.
