Although this is my first post and I just signed up for this website I've been researching for about 3 weeks now. I read tons of threads to find the right type of portable cans for me. I've always been into headphones, but never really understood that there were countless other viable and cost effective items outside of what is offered at Bestbuy and other big box stores.
I'm a huge hip-hop head and absolutely love listening to music on a good set of headphones. Prior to learning about this site I purchased, the Beats Solo, Beats Tour IEM's, Klipsch S4 IEM's, and the Bose IE2 IEM's. Conventional wisdom says these are some of the best brands on the market, but after much research on this site I've learned I couldn't have been more wrong. Since I've got a taste for bass I picked up a pair of the Ultrasone 580's, and wholly sh*t am I happy. I never like making the wrong decision so I tossed and turned looking at the M50's, the 780's, the AH D1100, the DT 770's (which probably are a better can, but not for portability), and many many other options. I also picked up a pair of the Audio Technica ATH ANC 23 noise canceling IEM's and they rival my other IEM for a quarter of the price.
I'm an audiophile in the making and I owe to you guys. I'm totally addicted and can't wait to snag an even better pair of cans for in house listening with an amp. What I've learned through this process is that Bose and Beats both blow! There are tons of other incredible options and the Ultrasone 580's are an amazing pair of portable over ear headphones that rival anything offered at a retail store. So once again thanks to all of you, I may not post much, but I'll be quietly lurking reading threads to find the best purchases for my tastes.
