Heir Audio - new high end custom IEM company - Page 9

please update if the cable shop pans out saintkeat!

just one quick question to all. would an amp be recommended for use with 8.a's and an iphone4s. the reason i ask is that i don't like carrying too much but i would also consider carrying a separate csource just to make sure i'm making full use of my ciem's

Well, I haven't received my 8A's yet, but I definitely find that an amp takes my JH16s to a new level. I suppose this goes for the 8A as well. Not that they won't sound great without one (I usually find that Apple products sound quite good as a source), but one can always benefit from an amp :-)

delete-- off topic.

Get an amp mate! It really helps. One of the small RSA or iBasso ultra portable amps would do. Willing to carry something a bit bigger then I strongly suggest looking into the balanced offerings.

I wasn't an amp guy myself. I usually like to travel light. But since making a little pouch for both the ipod and amp, its manageable! Something I put up with for that much more entertainment. You'll never see me with a big amp or an additional piece like the algorhythm solo!

My 8.A is in. So far, I'd say that no one should ever buy a JH16 again--the 8.A spanks it in bass and coherency, just for starters.

Okay now I'm really looking forward to receiving mine.

It really is worth it to carry one. I don't always, but most of the time. Especially with a nicer custom.

Nice! I haven't heard the 16 so I was curious what the comparison would be. Sounds like there is no comparison.

Yeah, coherency is the achilles' heel of the jh16--people on the jh16 thread are trying this and that to try to make up for it. Music just sounds artificially mixed together on it. It's designed to bring out the details, but at the expense of how music really sounds.

The 8.A has better bass capability and a thicker note as well.

I'll need to listen more, of course!

Do they accept master/debit card as a form of payment?

They should really provide more information on their website !

Is anyone else having trouble getting to the website? It doesn't load on my phone or on my pc.

No trouble from PC here...

I wish I had the nerve to do the customs thing again, because Heir Audio sounds like it has some amazing offerings.  I don't know if I have the patience to do this all over again after the 16's...

But if I change my mind, I might have to just sell my 16's.   Hmm....

[/thinking aloud]

I am looking for forward to getting the 8.A now and comparing them to the JH16. For me the JH16 was a major improvement. I am just finishing up the details with the wizard and then in goes my order.

Has anybody tried different cables yet with their Heir Audio CIEM? I have a whiplash twag v2 with oyaide mini plug. Now that I have the sr-71b I am itching to try a balanced cable? I am considering cables from Double Helix, Stefan AudioArt, or getting my whiplash twag v2 cable reteriminated with balanced.
