Fostex T50RP Amp\Dac advice

Thread Starter

Just got me some Fostex T50RP cans and would like some advice on an amp dac combo , My budget is around 300$ , I would like to it be exterior and be connected to the PC by firewire ( I think it has higher quality then USB ) and also have XLR outputs for connecting speakers with the DAC and driving headphones with the amp , obviously I guess :) ...

Might stretch the budgets if better then other options are available , Thanks for the help !

From what I've heard about planer mag. headphones, they can take gobs of power. I saw on another thread that an user has their's being pushed by a Schiit Audio Lyr. I asked about it, and they said it sounds fantastic. Only down side is it only has RCA out, but you could get some RCA to XLR cables to compensate.

Increase your budget. I think it'd be worth it.

An E9 pushes Fostex Orthos quite well.

how about the Asus Xonar STX ? I need it to be a DAC\AMP combo because amping the headphones to the thier full glory is not my highest priority , I just need a sound card or DAC to connect speakers to ... with some sort of "good" headphone amp .
