Questions concerning Sony's MDR-V6 Headphones.

Hey, long time listener, first time caller.

I've been meaning to buy some decent headphones for a while now, and the MDR-V6 have caught my attention. From what I've read and watched, they sound great for electronic music, which is what I mainly listen to. But before I take the plunge, I'd have to pick the experts brains over them. Here's what I'd like to know:

1: Are they good for long use? I have a 2 hour commute to and from work every day so this means a lot to me.

2: Is the build quality decent?

3: How's the isolation? Trains are quite noisy so it must be good.

4: The cable looks quite long. Is it?

5: And finally, are they worth the 65$ dollars?

Thanks in advance.

I've got MDR 7506s, which are slightly different MDR V6s. I believe they are supposed to be a bit less bright... in any case, only different thing is the drivers.

1) Yes. Very comfortable for long use and even sleep.

2) For the most part. I've seen lots of V6s break after a while, but my 7506s (again, same body) have held up very well. The only problem is the pads. They will fall apart after a few months. I believe you can swap them with the beyer DT250 pads.

3) It's adequate. Not too terribly good, but really if you want isolation you are looking at HD 25s unless you are getting IEMs.

4) It is. You'll have a lot of cable in your pocket, and it's coiled.

5) I'd say so. I have a vague memory of the V6s being terribly bright. The 7506s are a bit more expensive, but even for their price I'd still say they are a very good deal. I liked them a lot more than my M50s before I sold those, which have since become silly expensive.

If you can go out somewhere and listen to the V6 and 7506, then go do that.

You can have my MDR-V6's if you want them. They are an older model from the 1980's but still work fine.

Very nice of you.  I'm wishing I was the OP.  My 7506 have been estranged from me ever since I lent them out to a friend (whom I see frequently, oddly).

I love the 7506/V6.  I own better and have heard similar, but I love these and I don't think I'll ever outgrow them.
