Just wanted to say Hello (New Member)

Hello

After many weeks of reading I finally made my purchase, quite a bit of my decision was based on what I read here.

Picked up a set of Denon D5000's for $419 at buy.com, I'm coming from a old set of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's which were great for the price.  Since I am a DIYer, I built a small single 12au7 amp that I'm driving the new D5000's with, but I also just ordered all the parts for an AMD M^3 which I'm sure will drive them better being solid state and having the current on demand for the low impedance of the D5000's.

I listen to pretty much every genre of music from Tori Amos to Black Metal and everything beaten (No country really though).  The D5000's seemed as a good choice for all around listening, even though my little amp they are huge in sound compared to the 280 Pro's, I'm impressed, can't wait for them to break in more.

Anyhow just wanted to say hello and that I'll be around and lurking (Posting too :D)  Also i'm a basshead >:D

Welcome to the forum... you can learn a lot here, just be sure to go by the opinion of those who actually own things and you'll be fine. (Not sure what you think about cables and burn-in making a difference, but I think once you look into it enough you can figure it out.)

Thanks!

Well got my M3 soldered together and it sounds great!  Much better then the little tube amp, it's got the power to drive these phones.

One of the things I do find strange, I had bought the recommended op-amps (AD8610AR) but needed to get the adapter boards since they are surface mount and didn't get to expect them soon, so I was at Fry's picking up a few last minute connectors and such, but noticed that NTE made some low noise JFET audio op-amps for 2.99 so I picked up 3.  Well wouldn't you know it my adapter boards came in sooner so I was able to compare and actually like the NTE chips better.  I doubt NTE makes them. probably re-branded but the sound stage is better with them. *shrug*

Now just working on a power supply, the M3 is hooked to my lab supply at the moment.

In all seriousness though Jesse, welcome. You'll have a lot of fun here. Especially if you feel the need to have a large hole in your wallet. Welcome to Head-fi, sorry about your wallet.
