Will a cheap amp solve my DT770 250 ohm problem?

I Have a pair of DT770 250 ohm headphones, and im noticing that, without an amp, the bass is seemingly nonexistant. I plan on using this pair of headphones with my Ipod, so i was wondering if getting a headphone amp will do the trick.

I already have a pair of Sony XB500s which... Seem to have me addicted to powerful bass. I also have been trying out a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LPs.. (i think thats what they are called). and they seem to have strong bass. So i am also wondering if the DT770s with an amp will be able to have a bass that will come near or even surpass the bass strength of the other two.

And.... If an amp is my answer, I will probably need this amp to be cheap since I already broke my budget on the headphones alone. Hopefully you all can help.

I dont think a cheap amp will fix your issue. I think for a 250 ohm you need a better amp such as the p51. The e11 might work but I can not say for sure as I have not tried to drive medium or high full size cans.

So if i were to get one of those amps, what would be the significant change? Would i gain more sound clarity, or is this simply going to allow my headphones to be louder?

The p51 should allow it to power the headphones better. It would allow less volume with better performance. It should be able to help out the sound quite a bit. The e11 should be able to do it but I am not 100 percent sure as I have not tried.

so something cheap like the filo e6 amp would be pretty useless? I may just have to return these and try again later when i have the funds.

Yes the e6 will not do.
