Looking for a good full size headphone, need some advice

I own a westone 4 but I want something that I can use when I'm home instead of the IEM. I don't have much money for something to expensive, my budget is $200-$250 max (saving up for Denon 5000 and giving this pair to my wife). I was looking at the Sennheiser HD598 but the store where I wanted to buy them at sold out. I came up with 3 choices but not sure if they are any good, Ultrasone Pro 550, Sennheiser HD558, and the Grado SR225I. I wear glasses so what ever headphone has to be comfortable. I tried the Sennheiser HD558 in the store and it's pretty comfortable, no option to try the other two. Which one out of the 3 should I pick? Or should I be looking at another brand?

What do you like to listen to mostly? What sound signature do you seek? Open or closed, preference?

I would tell you to just keep saving and go straight to the D5000.

But if you must spend $200~250 and then later spend what it takes to get the D5000, some options:

Fischer Audio FA-002W

Beyer Dynamic DT880

Sennheiser HD600 (used)

Ultrasone PRO 650

Audio Technica A900X (or AD900 if unavailable to you)

AKG Q701

Hifiman HE-300

Very best,

I listen to mostly to pop and rock music

I would go with the Sennheiser HD 598's. They're not that much more than the 558's, just as comfortable, and a better sound overall.

there's a review in headfonia which compares hd558 to hd598, it might wirth a read, since u are considering both of them

Imo you should consider the 598's seriously. They have a nice presentation for rock, and are damn comfy.

I wanted to buy the HD598 but the store was sold out at $199.00. Online is going for $229.00 not including shipping.
