Lol. HDMS acts as a makeshift line out feature which automatically locks the volume at max so you can attenuated the signal to an external amp :). I did that myself with my FX700s and nearly destroyed my ears lol.

Ha, thanks lee, good to know.  I won't forget it.  It's a beautiful little player.  Big soundstage with the EX's, quite impressed.  Love the fact that I don't need an amp.

Not impossible that it has a slight roll-off in the lower bass frequencies. What are you comparing it too?

completely possible. this time, i fully rely on my vulcan hearing wink_face.gif

i'm comparing it to studio-V. studio-V is more linear and flat in the bass region, down to the low bass. while rocoo P has this roll off in the low bass

Ahh I see, your vulcan hearing. I bet you used the dynamic fw on the Studio, because I can then agree on this.

I have gone through several phases comparing the two units, although the different FW's and now the effect of the Btn sound on/off makes things very complicated and it drives me crazy as well. Anyway, I now do believe that the two units are somewhat internal different and that they do sound/perform differently.  Next week, I'll probably have a different opinionwink_face.gif I do recall Jack saying that their sound can alter both ways during the first 300 hours, so I will count on this as well, instead of thinking that I'm going crazy.

300 hours?? i guess it's still a long way to go for me to make another impression then tongue_smile.gif

and yes, i'm using the dynamic FW. i find it best with all my cans

Finally all my songs could be detected. i can also confirm that class10 card will work on the rocoo p.

But if you are able to remove the v3.2 files and not the v3.1 files then you should be good. For me when removing the tags it removed all the tags leaving the music files empty of tag information. Once I clicked undo it restored v3.1 and not 3.2 so everything worked fine after that. Not sure why its not the same for you though...

Edit: With more run in the Studio V is now starting to sound even good on my FX700s. Really makes the sound stage wide on them and the detailing is amazing. Funny how impressions change; like that of a diaper on a baby lol. I just let this thing recently run in for about 35 additional hours. Probably around 70 hours of use on it now. Gonna keep cycling it a few more times in hopes to increase the battery life to 55 hours for FLAC playback (which is what I read from some other headfiers earlier on).

No, no, you can just go through an unlimited number of phases where you in each phase make sure that you contradict your impression from the phase before, that's what I do! Then, when you reach the magic 300 hours you can make your final conclusion, if you're still sane beerchug.gif

Good suggestion, although you'd have to leave the screen on constantly. Else, when the screen is off, the up and down keys normally function as the volume controls. Still a temporary solution, nonetheless. At least until (hopefully) a change is implemented.

Not on my RoCoo. If I go to the music or settings screen etc., it can be 10 min later. I hit the up button and it just shows that same screen again with no effect on volume.

Yep. I just might end up selling mine because of it. I expect more bass, not less with something like this. Less sub-bass is just about the worst thing I can get from a DAP. Add the upper mid boost, and it's a combo to make me frown.

Don't get me wrong... it's a great sounding player, but those two things are definite minuses for me. The classical EQ setting gets rid of that annoying upper mid boost quite nicely though... but the lack of sub-bass is disappointing.

Any chance a different firmware can correct this?

Try the jazz eq. with Btn disabled. I don't get that upper mid boost but that EQ setting is what you're asking for.
