Hey everybody! So with Christmas time approaching I've been compiling a list of possible gifts and one of my major choices is a good pair of headphones. I have always associated sennheiser with some of the best audio out there so I decided that my first pair of good (decent/under 100$) headphones should be from sennheiser. After some research I have narrowed down my search to 2 models; the HD280 Pro, and the HD448. I know a lot of the pros/cons of each and their different price points (80$, 69$, and 44$ respectively). I intend on using them to listen to music (obviously) and maybe even use them to dj as me and a friend recently purchased dj equipment. I have a wide range in music; I like pretty much everything except country and I do like bass. I would just like some opinions on the matter or suggestions. Thank you!

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

Sennheiser HD280 pro vs HD448
Hi. I have been using the Sennheiser HD 448 for the last few months. They are very neutral, balanced and a bit bass-shy. If a strong bass is important for you, there are probably better options out there, I think. In terms of build quality, they feel a bit cheap and flimsy to me. I think they are good for use at home or at work, but I don't think they would make good DJ headphones.
I'm personally looking at the Shure SRH 440 to replace my HD 448. I haven't tested them yet, so I can't give a recommendation. But you may want to include them in your list. They are often mentioned together with the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and they can be found for <$100.
Oh thanks conassa! Those sure's look interesting, one thing that kind of turns me away from them though is the eternal wires running from the band to the earcups. Well heck, mabey i should turn this thread into a best headphones for ~75$ thread.

The 280's are not great, and have certainly seen their day.
I'm not familiar with the 448, but rarely see them mentioned or discussed.
