How does this compare to the HRT Music Streamer II+?

Which other DAC's like this use minimum-phase type filters?

So to get this straight, it doesn't need a PSU, it drwas all its power from the USB bus?

And where can these be found in Europe?

I heard the Bladeius at the NY Audio show last month, running off a PC and into some Gradient speakers. It was some of the best Sound at the show.. Tons of texture and a live inviting sound coming out of the Gradient Active speakers (about 10K) he played mostly blues and jazz and had a very intimate feel. I'm not sure how much of that plays into the Dac by itself, but it sounded great.

Thanks, might need to find me one since I am looking for a vintage receiver that will need to be fed a signal. And since it uses no power and has only one output it might be just the thing for me.

I am going to be picking up my Bladelius USB DAC tomorrow....looking forward to it and see/hearing whether it lives up to the companies home set up products in terms of sound signature. It will be inserted in a CAS composing of a Sony Viao > Bladelius > Triad L3 for IEM and the Violectric V200 for Headphones.

My expectation is for it to be very musical and analogue sounding, since the company's background is in speaker based systems....Will report more thoughts when I receive it.  I will also be interesting for me to compared the above source, Sony Viao/Bladelius USB DAC against the DX100.

Very interested to hear your impressions and if it indeed "analogue sounding" like they say.

As I said, I want to place it between my computer and a vintage receiver, so the analogue sounding part could be just what I am looking for.

Any idea on where to source one of these?

Nope, I googled bladelius dac and the first link was the homepage of the company in Sweden.

I mailed them for some info and where to buy them. Will post in this thread if I get some answer.

If I forget ... which I usually do since I have Alzheimer (or too much on my mind) although my doc says I don't (on the Alzheimer part :P  ) feel free to PM me end of the week.

Where are you located in Euroland?

Pick up this usb DAC this afternoon. Looks good, well made with excellent fit and finish. Nothing DIY about it. Supposedly designed in Sweden and made in California. Along with the DAC, there is a usb thumb drive. I hope it includes instructions as I am not technical at all. I was informed that it is plug and play.

I found out that it uses a WM8741 chip, so musicality and a euphonic sound would be the order of the day, hopefully. Will be using it with the JRiver media player on a Windows 7 64 bit Sony Vaio.

Try and post some listening impressions tonight.

What's the thumb drive for? Can't be to put music on since that would leave the Dac without power, no?

Oh my....took me 4 hours to set up, what a dumb-witconfused_face_2.gif. It should be so straight forward and I had installed it correctly first time round but my stupid laptop, two out three usb ports are ready for usb3 and the DAC requires a usb2 port.......................obviously I was plugged in to one of the usb3 ports and it wasn't recognized!

The usb thumb drive is a 32MB one and it had all the set up programmes and drivers.

I have just started listening and it is CLASS.........I didn't even have to a/b against the DX100 and know the Bladelius is better by quite a fair margin. More dynamic, better slam and attack. Very coherent and balanced sounding. More lively than I had anticipated.

Will provide further thoughts soon with pictures............................
