Stax 009 in Japan? - Page 3

I've just received the SR-009's which I got via www.PriceJapan.com and I'm more than pleased with them, not only is the build quality amazing but they are also extremely comfortable. The only downside { for me that is } is that I can't use them until March because I've nothing to drive them with until then. March is when I'll have the money to make the final payments for the BHSE. I decided to get the SR-009's now because I wanted them to be 100% Japanese. What I'll do until March is put them on and start singing and try to imagine it's coming out of the Stax.

Do you have to pay Duty on them?
 

It's worth picking up one of the cheaper amps to listen to them while you wait for your BHSE.

While the 009s sound phenomenal on the higher powered amps like BHSE, they still sound better than almost anything else on the production level Stax amps. I picked up an old SRM-T1 to use while I was working on my KGSSHV and it filled in quite admirably. It's actually for sale right now in the Sale Forums.

The older amps trade relatively frequently so there isn't much risk of getting stuck with something. March may seem like its close, but when it comes to the Head-amp delivery schedule I wouldn't hold my breath.

seriously interested in trying out the SR-009s.. anyone in the Pacific North West have one? 

The 009 is more sensitive than the 007 so they require less from the amp.  The SRM-323S is also more powerful than the 007t and RCA only which is a must with any Esoteric source.  They should never be used balanced.
