March is when I'll have the money to make the final payments for the BHSE. I decided to get the SR-009's now because I wanted them to be 100% Japanese. What I'll do until March is put them on and start singing and try to imagine it's coming out of the Stax.o2smile.gif

Do you have to pay Duty on them?

It's worth picking up one of the cheaper amps to listen to them while you wait for your BHSE.

While the 009s sound phenomenal on the higher powered amps like BHSE, they still sound better than almost anything else on the production level Stax amps. I picked up an old SRM-T1 to use while I was working on my KGSSHV and it filled in quite admirably. It's actually for sale right now in the Sale Forums.

The older amps trade relatively frequently so there isn't much risk of getting stuck with something. March may seem like its close, but when it comes to the Head-amp delivery schedule I wouldn't hold my breath.

No ! I didn't pay a thing, however UK customs did keep hold of the package for a few days and then eventually cleared it, PriceJapan do have the same policy with what they did I believe on everything, but I don't want to say what it was.

I've said in one of my posts that I haven't got the money to get any audio equipment, March is the earliest time when I'll have any spare, I'm eager to hear the SR-009's with the BHSE, but until then the combination of K-01 + Pico Slim + Shure se535's do give a very very good SQ, the beyerdynamic DT 1350's do aswell.

I've tried singing while I've had the SR-009's on and all I can say is, it's be hopes they don't sound like that when driven by the BHSE.confused_face_2.gif

i've had 009's for a few months, and thought i would have a BHSE by now too. maybe the BHSE will be here in a month or two.

i did hear the 009's with the BHSE at RMAF and was impressed. although i'd like to hear them with better tubes and with my sources. i have some NOS metal base Philips Miniwatt EL34's here waiting to plug into the BHSE.

You got PM Mike :)

elusive disc has a 10% off sale until the end of the year, which makes the 009 price comparable to ordering from japan.

can't do it myself right now since my free cash is already committed to a bhse after the new year.

The 009 is more sensitive than the 007 so they require less from the amp.  The SRM-323S is also more powerful than the 007t and RCA only which is a must with any Esoteric source.  They should never be used balanced.

Just curious, why shouldn't balanced outputs be used on Esoteric sources?

That's an interesting question. The local Stax dealer uses the K-01's RCA outputs as well, which I found very odd.

I'm guessing high output imp or output Vrms
