Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

Criteria?
Tastes?
Prepared to buy source equipment or do they have to play out of your phone, ipod or computer or whatever you use?
Give some details. Otherwise, any headphone for $300 would fit your bill unless you actually have some criteria and details for us to filter the options.
Very best,
what is the advantage of source equipment?
and i just want overall good sound. i dont care too much for bass so thats not important.
I just really dont want to spend a lot of money without a little advice from people who have experience with this kind of stuff.
and yes i am just going to use them for music, so nothing special.
Heya,
Well, if you're using onboard sound from a motherboard, that's a pretty average or poor source. So getting an expensive headphone capable of so much more will sound relatively meh, to down right awful on such a source. In other words, depending on what your current source is, I would suggest you consider a little DAC/AMP combo or something. It can be had for about $100 or less (and some sound cards will be sufficient depending on budget).
Do you want open back? Closed? Preference on material type for the pads? Do you like the sound to be bright or energetic, or do you prefer a laid back mellow sound? Is there a style you prefer?
Very best,

In other words, MalVeauX is telling you that your source - (the "thing" into which you'll be plugging your headphones) -
plays a very important part in sound quality.
Further, I'll add that the material on that source matters too. If it consists of low bitrate music files, they're not going to sound
very good on high quality headphones. It it's high bitrate (or preferably lossless) material, you will hear their quality on a set
of good phones.
So - what kind of music do you listen to, generally speaking?
And does it matter to you whether other people hear what you're listening to as you listen?
