Should I go with the M50's?

Alright guys, I narrowed my search down to this. My buddy just bought the beats pro and I kinda wanna show him up. Out of these which would be the best?

 

- Sennheiser HD25-1 II

I've heard some great things about the M50s and I'm leaning towards them.

This model isn't on your list of considerations, but have you looked at the Beyerdynamic DT770?  If bass is what you're looking for then they're a good choice; the bass is powerful, but controlled.  Mids are a bit recessed, but accurate and the highs are extended.  They're best used with an amp, though.  Do you plan on using these at home or on the go?  What's important to you aside from bass?

If you really want to show him up, get the Sony XB-500 ($50), which defeats them on almost every conceivable front.

Go with the 580's if your looking for bass heavy cans, better than the m50's and a great deal on BH photo ($118 shipped) today.  Sony XB500's have more bass but sacrifice mids/highs (much like Beats).  The Beats Pro are actually decent headphones, just don't think they're worth the $449 price tag.

If i were to put a price on them, it would be $150. 
 

Go with ultrasone.

They're good cans, however, not exactly bass heavy.  They have a strong bass presence but nothing like Beats.  I also enjoyed the mids/highs/soundstage of the Ultrasones, the M50's are a studio monitor with good bass.  Up to you, there's lots of comparisons on this site, generally Ultrasones are considered superior but when they're $150-$160, not worth the upgrade when M50's are $30 or so cheaper (which is not hte case now).

You'll be glad you bought the M50s. Really a great value. They are in my opinion very accurate. I'm happy with the bass, mids and highs. If your budget is $100-$200 this is the best deal (although I would also recommend the Sony CB 1000s for $188 at The Sound Professionals if they have any left).

Other reviews that I've read say that the M50's have better bass out of the two.

I got some M50s a few nights ago.  So far the highs are a little to bright for me and there is just and average amount of bass for me.  The sound stage is pretty good though.  I would say that the M50 is more of a stuido monitor than they are DJ headphones.  I guess I will see after I break mine in fully.

I own the m50s and the sennheiser hd 25 1 ii. Yes the m50 is a decent headphone but it is not that great compared to the other options in or around it's price range. If you can trust anyone it would be more. I have experience with these 2 headphones as i own them. My vote goes to the sennheiser hd 25 1 ii.
