budget studio/monitor headphones

hello,

this being my first post i wish u all a good and healthy pair of ears...

..looking for a closed set of cans for detail monitoring and reproduction  

since im in a third world country i find it hard to get good headphones for a price thats considered budget at head-fi....besides 1$=45 inr ...however a 100 dollar headphones is sold for 10k here ...be it so ..i already have a sony mdr xb 500 that im proud of...and searching for cans that fit studio work..

these are some of the headphones that i have narrowed down to that is available here :

1. audio technica ath m50

2. koss dj 100

3. krk kns 6400

4. klipsch image one 

5. sony mdr v 6

6. audio technica ath ad 700

7. sennheiser hd 25 sp-ii

8. shure srh 440

....thats about it ...my end all be all headphones would be the fischer fa 003....im mostly inclined towards the first 3...not in any order tho....what i would mostly appreciate is to work out something of an elimination sort of system ..and recommendations only based on ure hearing experiences rather than goin along in a band wagon....

Add the shure srh440/840 to that list. Much better value then m50s.

Any of the bold face I have either owned or extensively used myself, and recommend to you. Italic face is ok - but there are better for the money.

thank you for replying....the krk kns 6400 and the audio technica ath m 50 are just 400 bucks apart...thats 8 dollars ...what then would you recommend ?

Personally, the KRK - I find them to be better balanced and useful for studio/monitoring work than the M50.

The DJ 100 are nice if you can get them for closer to $50 rather than $80. They're relatively balanced and really bring the vocals forward for monitoring -- I found them to be of higher quality then the V6s I auditioned, myself. 

 

The KRK KNS 6400 is another great choice -- in terms of raw quality, I'm not really sure if anything can beat it for monitoring in the price range. You just have to be okay with it being a little bass shy.

 

I don't suggest the M50 unless you can find it for close to $100-110.

 

The Shure series also tends to be good for this application.

thank you... in $... the m50 is 150 $ , the kns 6400 is 140 $ and the dj 100 is 80$...

well that may be so, but i've read that m50 is an upgrade to the sony mdr v 6 ...besides the v6 is just a tad bit cheaper than the m50....

...sorry but u dont get any good akgs here ...i tried my best at gettin the k240s ...but almost triple the price ...and i aint ready to pay for it...

As I've mentioned before, try the FS forum, or ebay...try to get the MKll models

i've been quoting the ebay prices here ...and its 2 or 3 times the mrp of the product...i dont intend to get the akgs ...what would you suggest from the list i've put up?
