Portable Amp for AKG K702 under 100$

Hi guys,

 

Title says it all. I need a portable amp for my AKG K702 but I don't want to spend more than 100$. The cheper the better, but I still wanna know what are the best portable amp for a guy on a budget !

I dont know if its a good idea to buy a portable amp for the 702's.

I think you need to spend a little more for a decent amp that will drive your Akg's.

I've read that the Fiio E9 will drive the k/q 702's. It'll get the job done, but it won't exactly be as pretty as a higher grade amp. 

 

In all honesty, I'm considering some Q701's as my next set of cans... but I don't have an amp. Originally I thought of getting the Fiio E10, but I doubt it would properly drive them, so now I've got my eyes on a E7>E9 combo. In theory, that would work fine.

The Objective2 will quite happily drive the K701/2 (use it myself) and will run off either AC power or batteries. Comes in a bit over budget at 135USD though (fully built from JDS Labs)

What do you need portable amp for akg's , they are not portable at all. They will loose plenty of details and qualities, because this is phone with open design. But if you want transportable amp I can recommend you ART amp. It will serve you very good for the price.

sorry but no,...just no....

 

k701/k702 just aren't meant for portable. especially not from budget portable amps. k701s need a full size desktop amp to sound their best since they require a good amount of power. plus the cord would be awakward and they're a little big.

 

if u get a cheap portable amp, the akgs will sound underpowered, flat, and very thin.

You'll most likely be unhappy with a $100 amp, which will then force you to buy another amp. So my advice is don't buy any amp for now, save up for another extra $100.

$200 will be much healthier for both your K702 and your wallet.

So since I'm looking into the same area, what amp would you recommend for the Q701? I don't have as big of a budget constraint, and am totally new to amps.
