Replacing connectors

3.5mm jack seems to been damaged, and I wish to replace. Is there any way to do this cleanly? I'm thinking there has to be a better way than scavenging the jack from another cable and soldering it on the old cable after cutting off the damaged connector. That would give me a pretty ugly buldge...

Thanks

replacement connectors are readily available - I like ones from Neutrik and Switchcraft, but there are many depending on your budget, needs, and aesthetic. Most of them come ready to solder. Identify which of the three cables are left, right and ground (those correspond to the tip-left, ring-right, and sheath-ground of the connector) - prep the wires (strip + tin), slip on the heatshrink (if needed/desired), jacket and strain relief (part of the connector) and then solder them on.
