In the market for moderately priced, durable, quality over the ear head phones

What's up people,

I came across this forum earlier when I was on the computer googling up what was the deal with this trend of buying dre beat headphones; clearly just marketing as I thought. It looked like this place was full of informative experienced audiophiles. So I'll try to make my post short and sweet in terms of what I am looking for in my pursuit of a over the ear headphones to purchase.

I am a computer engineer major so I have alot of  knowledge of frequency responses of all kinds and just audio circuitry and devices in general. I hope to "sound engineer" if that the term, my own subwoofer one day. I love bass heavy music because I am a dubstep basehead by heart. No, not a wanna-be I have been listening to dubstep wayyyyyyy before this skrillex craze happened, the days when rusko, caspa, benga, tc, plastican were banging the beats.

I am looking for over the ear head phones that have great bass response meaning a great response to low frequency sounds but a nice surround sound feel to it as well. I am looking for something durable because sadly, I have never owned a decent pair of headphones only the cheaply made ear-bud headphones that can be purchased at walmart. I am looking for over head phones that can be considered to be very durable; considering such things like quality wiring material and such because I am tired of these cruddy ear-bud headphones short circuiting every few months at the 3.5mm audio jack connector. Yeah, sure I can go purchase a solid audio connector male end at radio shack or something and attempt some soldering but that is a pain in the arse because I have tried. My budget would have to be around the $100 mark preferably less as I am a poor college student. That's about it. Thanks for your time to anyone responds

Creative Aurvana Live! They are pretty great for the price (90 on amazon), they have good, deep bass but not overpowering, and they have good soundstage. Or the sony ZX700, I listened to a pair today and they were really nice and rich sounding. The bass wasn't as emphasised as on the Creative's but they seem pretty durable to me. That might be the only downfall of the Auravana Live's, they are quite lightweight and don't feel that solid.
