not necessarily, but closed tend to give more bass punch. Grado's just have a very aggressive in your face sound sig. The HD448 is very relaxed, and bass is good but not really heavy. And they do better amped. Go read some reviews on them. Then you will be better informed.

Reading reviews... here http://stereo-headphones-review.toptenreviews.com/sennheiser-hd-448-details.html they have mentioned that they tend to get heat after usage.

How are JVC HA-RX900 ? They gave 5/5 on performance.

I have read reviews posted & turns out HD448 are not for me. I have big elephant ears :P [6.5+ cms] & 448 surely won't be comfortable. 

 

So any new suggestions ?
