I just ordered a set of HD 558s, and before I look into desktop amps, I just need an expert critique on this setup I'll be initially running. I plan on running a digital line out of the sound card on my PC into a stereo receiver to handle the DAC. This is the best I can do for now as I'm kind of low on funds at the moment.
The receiver is a fairly recent Yahama RX-365 and it's got a dedicated headphone jack as well as a "straight" setting for direct sound.
I've never used a quality dedicated headphone amp before but I'm guessing that this setup shouldn't do too bad, definitely better than the headphone jack alone from the PC. These are midrange cans too so I won't be needing anything too crazy or expensive, but if anyone has a good suggestion, please throw it at me. Thanks
