Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 (from Amazon Black Friday 2011) Unboxing+

Hi.  I thought it would be helpful to show what I received from Amazon and how it is packaged.  I ordered 2 day shipping.

 

First, this is what the box looked like.  On the right my K-Cup tea, on the left is the boxed up earphone.

Second, this is the box the earphones were packed in.

This was what was inside the box.  One thing to note, the case was off-center when I opened the box.  My first thoughts were 'did I buy a factory repaired set'.

Now I thought I would add some bonus content.  When I was looking for headphones, I wanted to know how big they were.  So, I am including side-by-side shots of the TF10 next to Eytmotic HF3 and 6isolators, and Klipsch s4.  You can tell the size of the cord and something I noticed is that the TF10 are not as big as I thought they would be compared to small HF3

Mine came in a different package. Smaller, and it had windows on it so you could see through to the 'phones, case, and tips.

Lol who cares what the packaging looks like, as long as the item is good... How do you find the sound?

Yeah mine has different package as well (down under), I also receive mine yesterday and still trying to get over my brain explosion of how good it sounds...

 

fitting aside (I have no problem with fitting and seal, I can get 100% seal with the large silicone, but the memory wire is very very uncomfortable), this is truly an amazing IEM, my W3 is coming next week, a lot of people say that W3 craps all over TF10, can't wait to hear how good it sounds if that's the case :)

I don't think so.  The TF10 sounds like a corrected version of what W3 should be.

 

TF10 bass is more controlled yet extends deeper.

TF10 midrange is not nearly as recessed so vocals are better.

TF10 and W3 treble are about equal.

TF10 soundstage sounds better (more 3D) where W3 merely sounds distant and 2 dimensional.

I'm on it, but I can tell you just from the first hour, and compared to what I own (include a 3 year old Bose QC3 and Grado 60s) that I am really enjoying this.  ATM: Pink Floyd, Welcome to the Machine.... and the sound is transparent... it seems like they are playing for me, then I switched to Eluveitie (Inis Mona) and you can hear the separation of the crazy combo of instruments they throw together (cymbals do not get overwhelmed on top of the mass effect of noise).... maybe I need something softer.  I want to compare all the head/earphones I have with my real world music soon.

I got mine in today's mail.  I haven't compared them to my Shure SE420s but I think they sound pretty good.  The Shures have two drivers and going by memory I think the UEs have a better sound.  The wire is thinner than that of the Shures but it's not as thin as I thought it was going to be from the comments online.  So far (listening for five minutes) I'm very happy with them.

Hmm, weird how you got it today with 2 day shipping while mine comes tomorrow when I had one day shipping. Oh well, I ordered pretty late(15ish minutes before deal ended) and I was refunded by Amazon for my shipping. biggrin.gif I get mine tomorrow.

Ucrime I believe what you received is the new retail packaging for the tf10, I received the same thing (I contacted Amazon before receiving the shipment and they confirmed that what I would be receiving is the retail package).  My first set of TF10's came with the older retail packaging, which was the smaller box with the window in it; I actually prefer the newer box.  I wouldn't worry about the aluminum case being off centered, it may have come loose during shipment, was your outer box sealed with tape and not opened?  I believe that is how UE is shipping them now if you look on the outside of the outer brown box you will see the TF10 sticker with the barcode and on the bottom made in China.

Unfortunately, That is not the new retail packaging. That was the older one. The newest ones comes in a blue box, something like the previous silver one with the window, but blue. The reason i know this is that i bought mine this year, and it states copyright 2011, logitech on the box

I hope I get the retail box, if only because I trust blister packaging to keep the IEM's safer than a plain cardboard box (where the metal case can move around). What I'm kind of wondering at this point is why they don't ship the IEM's inside the crush proof case. Seems like a no brainer, considering the extra protection that would be offered.

 

Mine come tomorrow. Very excited, but trying to temper that with the knowledge that most people hate the fit, and that I might need to send them off to be customized.
