Help looking for a new headset budget is $100 - $400

So I'm looking for a headphone that I can use when I'm at home. My budget isn't too high so I guess whatever is the "best" in the budget is fine.

A couple of things I'm looking for

- I play a lot of pop music (70%) the rest of the 30% is a mixture of different genres

- I like a large sound stage. I want to feel like I'm surround by the music.

- I wear glasses so I like it to be comfortable. I don't want massive pressure on my head

Okay,

Firstly, you'll want an open back headphone to get a huge soundstage and secondly, you might need an amp.

I have an amp already (FIlO E7), question is which headphone should I get ? There's so many of them I'm sort of confused

What genres do you listen to?

On your Fiio E7:

Beyer DT990 PRO

Ultrasone PRO 650 or HFI 2400

Denon D2000 (D5000 used if you can get it)

Fischer Audio FA-002W's

Very best,

I see you listed the Ultrasone, what about the pro 550 or the HFI 780?

Imo, you should really try before you buy them. For personal listening, I did not like any of the Ultrasone models.

hmm this may be tough as B&H does not have all the models available for demo...

Pro2900 excellent all rounder, great mids, great bass, great high (sometimes sibilance with few songs) but maybe a little more than 400 $ and amp is not necessarily required.

and the sound stage? is it a good wide open sound stage? I don't want to feel like I'm standing 2 inches away from the singer/instruments

You have to get open back headphones for that.

This is not accurate.

You should try a lot more closed headphones.

D 2k/5k, SRH940, FA-003/002W, A900, PRO 5/6/7/9 Ultrasones, etc are just examples of closed headphones with sound stages (not to be confused with the same term being used to describe separation of instruments) that are very similar, and equivalent to some, to open-air headphone's sound stages. Open air headphones also have variable sound stages themselves, some are not as wide as others, yet are open. So let's not lump it into a category with authority like it's black & white, when it really is not.

Very best,

Out of the headphones you mentioned, I've auditioned the Ultrasones and owned the SRH940. Soundstage in closed headphones vs open headphones aren't even debatable. Sound is subjective but out of all the closed headphones I've tried, none matches even semi-open ones. All of them are tested in a quiet and peaceful room.
