Looking for an amp for my ultrasone edition 9.

Hey people,

I currently have a RSA predator, and i love listening to music with my se535's plugged in as a portable setup with my ipod and as a dac/amp with my computer. However, I would rather use my headphones for long computer usage and the predator doesn't provide enough juice to power them. It distorts way before reaching the max volume level I may sometimes listen at, plus it's tiny size and volume knob bothers me as the weight of the cable itself moves it around on the desk like a little matchbox. I want something solid with a nice warm sound to compensate for the bright silver-dragon re-cabled headphones. I may eventually use my IEM's with my new desktop amp, so can anyone suggest something decent with my current setup that is flexible enough to be used with IEM's? I am currently listening to my edition 9 through the headphone out of my marantz pm6003, which is connected to a pico usb dac. The sound is really good, but I am sure I can do better with a dedicated headphone amp and probably a better dac. My budget for both a new headphone amp and possibly dac if needed should not exceed 3000$. I want a future-proof setup as I am probably never going to buy a high end headphone amp again. Please let me know what I should get. I dont know if it helps, but I listen to mostly rock, all kinds of metal, some jazz and a bit of everything else. I don't have the luxury of listening to an amp before purchasing because there are none to audition where I live.

Thanks!

I remember some guys recommending the HA-160D for ultrasone higher end models. An alternative is the Lehman black cube linear, but its only amp. no dac.

Well, I cannot decide on what to purchase with the advice of only one person. I've read many times that the rudistor nx-33 has a magical sound with my headphones, but since I believe it is now discontinued, I need some alternative that many people would agree on.

I have a Yamamoto HA-02 that I had used with my UE9 that does them real fine.

Edition 9 was may favourite headphones until arrived Edition 10. I think a good amplifier for this is:

- Beta 22.

- EAR HP4.

- Sugden Masterclass HA4.
