Best 2.0s or 2.1s for <£50

Hello guys,

After blowing the drivers on my abysmal 2W 2.0s from Argos I've decided I need a decent set of speakers to go with my newly brought headphones (Koss PortaPros - massive upgrade from anything I've brought or heard before).

I'm after either 2.0s or 2.1s, whichever will give better sound quality for the price (I'm assuming 2.0s at this price?) for music, films and the odd bit of gaming (tend to use my headphones for the latter).

I listen to all sorts of music, literally both ends of the spectrum from baroque all the way through to thrash metal. The music I listen to most, however, is heavy-rock/metal and jazz.

They need to be -reasonably- compact as I still need some desk-space for my studying!

So far, the only things I've found that may be suitable are the Corsair Gaming Audio Series S2200s, but I do admit to knowing very little about speakers!

Any help or directions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Cu Chulainn

Literally got no idea about anything passive!

Why would they be better and would I need additional cables etc?

They sound better than your average computer speakers, your just need some speaker cable.

Any reviews around?

Also, is there much point spending the same price on an amp as the speakers? I have no clue about this kinda set-up
