Connecting a Sony SA-W3000 to an Essence STX

Thread Starter

Hey there,

My parents recently gave me their oldish SA-W3000 subwoofer since they bought a new home theatre system.

Basically, I want to connect the subwoofer to my Audioengine A5s, and have the subwoofer connected to the soundcard (Xonar Essence STX). The problem is I have no idea if I have the right cables to plug it all together.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

One other question: can you 'create' a custom 5.1 system with any combination of speakers for each part (e.g., Brand A front left and right; Brand B back left and right; Brand C sub and centre)?

Thanks!

to do that you must have a crossover...

as for the second question, yes of course you can. but be careful about pairing.

So how would I go about setting it up with a crossover?

The Left/Right/Center is normally from the same brand/make for timbre matching but rear channel/surrounds may be of different make. 5.1/7.1 best go with separate/passive speakers and an AVR After that determine what features u want/need to select the AVR that best fits your needs. I suggest you head down to AVS forums and the pros have vast hands on experience with various HT/Speaker hardware and could better advise u L3000.gif
