Sennheiser hd595 sounds worse after official cable replacement

I have original cable replaced with spare part called "Sennheiser Connecting cable HD 515 part no. 510623". Now the sound is very dry and colorless, can't distinguish guitars with distortion effects from one another, all have the same tone.

Has anyone had such troubles after official cable replacement with any brand and Sennheiser in particular?

Also, as I have preserved original cord, will I be able to get some decent sound out of it if I will solder points where it frayed myself?

You replaced the stock cable with another stock cable direct from Sennheiser?  Is the cable installed properly?

Maybe the impedance differe to much and the cable reflect that, the HD595 have an impedance of 50 ohm (very low) and the HD515 is at 120 ohm.

Yes, it's official replacement cable for hd 595, 555 and 515, I took the packet in which the cord arrived. It's installed properly and the pins are of the same golden color as on native cord, I've just dissasembled headphones and checked this. Insulation is the same too, only the black rubber layer reflects light a bit differently but that's it.

pins are in the right sockets? No loose wires elsewhere?

Pins are inserted very tightly.

I've managed to regain some sound color by turning "X-fi crystalizer" option at 100% on my creative card. Still far from great, for example saxophone sounds better on a single speaker of my nokia than on headphones.
