Do Brainwavz HM5 and Fischer FA-003 use the same drivers? - Page 5

What is the detail, soundstage, and instrument separation like on these? I ask because I have some etymotics HF3 and am LOVING the intimacy and detail along with instrument seperation plus I have GR07 which I am also enjoying a lot. But I picked up a pair of KRK KNS6400 which I find to bass light and to distant (they remind me of the AD700 but without the grain and a bit more detail).

Also I have the Hm3 which I reviewed and again like but find slightly to bass heavy. Would these straddle say the AD900 and the HM3 for bass?

The AD900 comments are also interesting as I ultimately sold my AD900 because of the bass, the two hot mids (yet strangely thin sounding) and to some degree the grain.

Just ordered a pair...

 

The AD900 and HD600 comments just got to me as I used to own both. If this is a decent mariage between the two with a bit more isolation while still sounding open I will be very happy. I will of course do a full review as well just for fun. Now I will just have to sell the KRK KNS 6400 I bought to make room for these.

 

I have been on a buying and selling frenzy the past couple of weeks.

Check my review out for more details, but it's less hot on the treble than the Ad900 while having good extension and slightly better bass than the Ad900.

Just placed an order for these before the $120 sale ends. My wallet is crying tears of agony and trying to kick me in the ***** through my pants pocket. I'm going to hawk my video games on Amazon to be able to afford them. Thus is the nature of the evil entity known as Head-fi. 

Those pads look incredibly comfy, and I don't really like non-velour pads... these look inviting.

So, at this point, we haven't got an adamant answer to the initial question yet.

 

Could someone well-informed (someone who owned or tried the FA-003 and the HM5) tell us if both are the same headphones ?

 

I'm planning to buy either a pair of FA-003, or of HM5, but I don't know which of those I should choose. Is there a difference between them (put aside the price and the accessibility) ?

The HM5 are ~40€ cheaper than the FA-003. Should I buy the HM5 ? Or is the FA-003 worth the additional 40€ ?

 

In addition, there is only one review about HM5, so I can't judge them yet =/

What do you mean by "risks" with DG Audiobase ?

 

And, again, are the FA-003 worth the $15 ($155.31 at GD | $139.50 at mp4nation) more than the HM5 ?

A lot of people have reported horror stories about dealing with GD Audiobase. The seller is said to have extremely bad communication. He takes a long time to respond to emails but more often it seems he doesn't reply at all. People have waited up to 2-3 months for their shipments to arrive, and I think I remember reading about a couple people who sent their money but never received anything at all. While there are multiple people have indeed bought and received headphones from them, overall it's pretty sketchy, hence the "risk and wait." Main reason why I went for the HM5 over the FA-003. Based off the reviews they are, if not the same, at least very similar. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

It seem as though the $99 deal is over.  Man, I was too late :(.

That $99 deal was only Cyber Monday I believe but they did have a pre-order price that was $119, which is what I took advantage of.

will patiently wait for the next deal...
