Is Peachtree the only option?

Looking for a DAC/Amp combo that can do both conversion from an iPhone and a computer, is Peachtree really the only option?

Not only that is seems like the iPhone isn't even on their official compatibility list.

Thanks for any input!

the iPhone does work on a peachtree. I used mine on my musicbox. no warning messages pop up about airplane mode.

your other option would be to get a pure i20 dock and then take that analog output to another amp/preamp/dac box with multiple inputs (e.g.: Burson 160D). But that doesn’t have the speaker taps for passive speakers. hmm.

I can’t think of another 100% integrated box that does what the peachtree stuff does.

And, FWIW, even the cheap peachtree musicbox has a very nice DAC and decent headphone amp section. It worked well with Grado headphones and some MD5000. It finally met its match with the HD800 - it drove them at good volume but couldn’t fill out the bass as well as more powerful amps.

note: I am selling my musicbox in the For Sale section. If you don’t need to drive big passive speakers, it might be a decent choice?

Interesting, thanks.

Well if I go with the Pure i20 I could get something like the NuForce Icon HDP, DACmini CX or the HLLY SMK-II DAC/Amp Combo.

Anyone thoughts on those? I guess they could both power smaller passive speakers or I could use larger active speakers?

Thanks, Bill

I just ordered the new NuForce Dia...a DAC/amp combo with a headphone jack that will also power external speakers.  (They don't need to be powered speakers.)  At $299 the price seemed right, but I haven't tried it yet.

I should have noted that the NuForce Dia accepts optical signals from my MacBook Pro from the computer's optical output (hidden in the headphone jack), so you'll need a Toslink/mini-Toslink connector to the NuForce Dia.  It does not have a USB-in port.
