I want to buy something make me say WOW

but i dont know what to buy

just headphones?

and connect it to the computer?

or I need amp? if yes I will be happy to hear about headphones in about 400$ and the other 400 I will ask in the amp forum.

 Musical preferences?

Do you want a closed or open headphone? The latter will sound more natural generally speaking but

it will leak more sound out than a closed model.

I listen to: house, electro, dance and not much to hip hop

close or open: if there is not a big different, I prefer close.

The difference is like an ocean (open) and a lake (closed).

Ultimately, it comes down to what is most important to you, if you're prepared to sacrifice a natural open sound

for isolation then closed might be best, if you want the best sound quality for your dollars then an open model

will always sound better ~ depending on your ability to fund an appropriate DAC and amp to support it.

Thing is you're in luck ~ your taste in music is usually set in a club atmosphere and most closed headphones

tend to have a better bass response, so in your case, I'd say closed suits you nicely.

Since you want to spend a pretty penny ~ my recommendation would be the Ultrasone Pro 900.

You will need to amp it.

By the way, which headphones did you own right now? And have you ever been wowed by a particular headphone?

so we agree on open or close?
I listen in quiet place usually, and what  is important is the sound! after that the look but first the sound
now I have the headphones that came with the cell phone..
I understand that real good quality sound I Will not get from my phone
so first of all I am going to buy another portable headphones -Klipsh image s4
but for my house I want something better..

nukp, yes I listen to a Friend headphones (some model of Sennheiser, don't know what kind of model)
but he bought it in less that 400$ (all so he bought it second hand)

p.s

what is DAC? should I askabout it in the amp forum?

what the budget should be? 400 headphones and 400 to amp?

Ultrasone Pro 900 is closed ~ search around, along with the Beyer DT 770 Pro 80 ohm ~ it's pretty much the main stay headphone for a lot electronica fans

I know it is not the place to ask..

but I don't know where to ask so I will try here.

big headphones will be better than small one connecting to my cell phone?

because if will connect it to my cell  phone I will not need to buy amp... so I will be able to but in 800 and not in 400

or there is no chance to get good sound from my phone? (I try on it just big headphones and it didn't work so well...)

and thanks for the replays!

If you need a high end headphone that can run off your phone, look into these two :-

Beyerdynamic T5p

Ultrasone Edition 8

The Ultrasone Edition 8 might be out of your price range though.

I wouldn't recommend that because they sound like they're being downgraded to fit its mobile purpose.

For mobile, you can try IEMs instead of full sized headphones.

If you want something for both desktop/computer and portable - I would get a portable combination DAC/Amp like the iBasso D6 - this will connect to either your phone or your computer and have power enough for most headphones.

It runs somewhere around $275 - leaving you a bit over 500 for headphones - which is plenty, frankly. I would get the Denon D2000 or Ultrasone Pro 900 for your stated music styles.

Alternately, if the portable was just a side note - get a fullsize DAC/AMP for the computer (Audio-GD NFB-5) which will way outperform the iBasso - and will handily work with any headphones you might get down the line (the suggested Sennheiser 650 is fantastic, but may not necessarily be the best choice for your music styles).

thanks again to all of you.

I am lookingto get thebest sound for my money. I dont reallly care if it is small and portable headphones or a big one.

Iunderstand from your replays that big one for 400$ + 400$ amp

are betterthan laptop/cell phone + 800$ small headphones.

sonow I am going to read about whats you recomend me

and thank again! :)

I think I will go for the denon AH-D2000

I just need to find where I can listen to it before buying it. and it could be a problem in Israel.. wehave only grado and Sennheiser hahah

there is a way I can buy the denon and I will have the option to bring it back? (for the 1% that I will not like it)
