There is no "one size fits all headphone". While I prefer the LCD-3s to my HE-6s, I can understand Silly Sally's preferences (the HE-6s are still fabulous cans).

X2. Not simple to put together a rig for each flavor, plus the time and expense.

I also find the HE-6 comfortable despite their weight. Can't say the same for any of the Audez'e cans. For whoever said that the HE-6 is badly shaped, try moulding the headband to your liking...it's not difficult.

No I really didn't try to mold the LCD-3's to my head, however I think as time went by that would be a non-issue for me.

Yes I can and do understand your preferences, and respect your opinion as much as my opinion.

Yes its not a easy thing to do when you are talking about the HE6. I can rest assure everybody that I did try very hard to like the LCD-3's using the tools I had on hand, and even got the same headphone cable new that I use with my HE6's for the LCD-3's.

Yes I think I am the first to post a FS for the LCD-3's, and the only reason why its still posted is I have been waiting for Audeze to send me mailing instructions and a RMA number.popcorn.gif

I think visualguy also has his pair returned.

Sillysally- When you are listening through the realiser and make a different HPEQ for both the HE-6 and the LCD-3, shouldn´t they sound about the same frequency-wise since the realiser compensates eq for different headphones? What PRIR are you using for listening to music- is it the AIX PRIR? Do you prefer listening through the realiser to straight from the DAC for stereo music?

I also have the realiser and the HE-6 (+Lyr and bifrost), mainly because of your and others recomondations ;-) (and it´s awesome!)

It would be interesting to test the LCD-3 though- since so many in this forum loves it (and maybe to get even more deeeeep bass when watching movies).

Yes I made three HPEQ's for the LCD-3 one of those HPEQ was made with a SPL meter (manual). imo how you insert the tiny mica's into your ears to make a HPEQ makes a difference, not a big difference but still a difference when you are using high end revealing neutral amps, source, DAC, headphones and cables. There is only so much the HPEQ can do to control the headphones if you are using a very high end PRIR as I use. Yes I used the 5.1 and 7.1 reference system from AIX for both Blu Ray movies and 2Ch stereo music (5.1 AIX, Realiser use just the RF and LF speakers for playback). I did also bypass the Realiser for 2Ch stereo (I have already commented on that).

imo The Realiser is in a class by it self, but the key to the Realiser is the system and acoustics you make your PRIR's from, of-course saying you have a headphone rig that is capable of transmitting the tonal qualities/placement of speakers of a great speaker system and room acoustics.

btw, I use a HDMI (high speed, 1M) cable from my Oppo BDP-95 to my Realiser and then use a Supernova 6 TOSlink (.5M) out from my Realiser to my W4S DAC, thereby bypassing the Realiser's DAC so there is only one D/A conversion done by my W4S DAC, then out to my Liquid Fire amp via Eclipse 6 (interconnects .5M)

Sounds amazing. I wonder what the Smyth Realizer can do on my SR009. I also have the Oppo 95. Will try that out next year.

Ya I would love to hear the 009's and a high end amp with the Realiser. I have heard the STAX 202 headphones and amp combo and that sound pretty good, so I can only imagine how the high end STAX would sound with the PRIR from AIX and of course the Realiser. But for now my Liquid Fire really does a great job with the Realiser.

Very interested in this thingy - we have some audiophiles with millions worth of gear here in Hong Kong. If I get the Realizer and then sneak into one of their homes I may be able to copy the whole thing with the PRIR stuff, is that the idea?

Yes that's the idea, but don't forget to check out the Realisers report on how well your PRIR turned out. Of-course the better the sound system used to make a PRIR you expect the better the sound. What really surprised me was being able to easy tell the difference in room acoustics and how important room acoustics are for a great sound system.

I should probably tell you that I also have a PRIR from AIX that is from there theatrical certified THX 5.1 sound system, for that sound system AIX uses a big drop down screen and a projector that is enclosed so no noise leaks out. AIX uses some big horns and speakers JBL's behind the screen and for sides they also use four sets of JBLs high on the side walls, and a coffee table size SW.

Anyway I still prefer to use there BW 8XX series reference 5.1/ 7.1 speaker system to view movies and of course MCH music. So hopefully this will give you and others a butter understanding of what I really like to hear my audio sound like.
