Maybe you guys just need to use chrome :P

So, I finally got it to work, and I've completed the basic and bronze section missing only one question (In the boost and cut noise), and I have tinnitus with my laptop and my furnace making a little bit of noise in the background.

I'm going to continue some time tomorrow.

Great! I completed basic only...

This is a serious "challenge" or its a joke for you guys that are well into sound... I'm a super noob, so I'm actually learning something :P

Woow, how do you do with the tinnitus andand all this super detailed things... The thing I notice the most is, I can barely hear hissing or background noise, so its perfect! No source is too bad for me hahaha

I'm hitting a brick wall right where I suspected I would:  High Frequency Extension.  I have minor tinnitus too (played drums in a band, went to many loud concerts, rode a motorcycle without earplugs for a while, etc) and this is my weakest area.  I literally can't hear the difference between the original and the most drastic difference on that section.  They say it's most noticeable in the cymbals and then they play a song with no cymbals.  :-/

I'm not even going to bother trying the test part if I can't hear the difference in the demo section.

But I am going to try again when I get home with my HE-4, which have crazy treble.  That might help...

My hearing rolls off around 17.5k, how about you? I could hear the difference, drummer myself btw smily_headphones1.gif.

I can't hear anything, in the test I did, after 16.something... So some $12 earbids would be great for me xD

I guess the worst for me is like the sound get congested, and I suddenly can't differentiate instruments if I don't make an effort... But I noticed that this happens to me when I really want to hear the subtle things, if I'm like distracted, I can certainly hear them...

Well I don't know about the challenge yet but Philips gets a major fail for forcing Mac users to use Safari.

I started hearing it just before he said "16k"

I think my tinnitus is minor, but I still hear it through my music.

Wow!  I didn't know the challenge would become so popular!  BE ADVISED, it is better to make an account there *first*, before starting the challenge, if you want to be able to save your work in progress.  If you don't do it and you close the browser window/tab, you will have to start all over again at the beginning.  I learned this the hard way after making it through bronze and only then realizing it was going to take more time to complete than I thought, at which point I tried to make an account.  The account went well, as expected, but I didn't get to keep any of my earlier progress :(

Woah I just heard 19k+ in that test... wtf! And I know it shouldn't be artifacts, I know what those sound like! Maybe the old test I used was a bad one... lol. I mean, it's only 1 extra note though basically so really no difference.

I feel as if that ~18khz+ range it's just giving high hats that extra feely emotion extension. Otherwise it's just a nitpick when I see there's no measurements on Foobar2k spectrograms :P
I know american indie producers that like to abuse the extreme highs and it's really fatiguing...

Not that I know many songs that are well recorded and don't have the extra 2khz though :D

but then again, 18kh... yeah whatever.
