And i have an answer to the headroom problem! I saw a video on youtube "akg q701-how to make it more comfortable" you will find the solution in that video. Cheers! ūüėä

I've got a solution for your laziness.  It involves a boot... :D

Handy little vid.  Thanks for the "link."  Still, not going to solve the evil bumps problem, if it's a problem.

I tried some adhesive foam between the bumps, but it wasn't sticky enough.  Also didn't help enough.  Finally, was butt-ugly.  But something like that between them to even it out, and then something placed over or around the headband would keep the filler in place, and could be made totally reversible.

I find that after removing the bumps, then adding thin foam and a bandana there isn't much room left.  Thus, if you have a big head, a mod with the bumps still there might be too much.  YMMV, of course.  Also, it seems to me that btarb24's mod could be considered an upgrade.  You could certainly present it that way, if you're trying to sell.

I greatly support this idea.

Just got to try it very briefly but the impressions are good. Stay tuned...

EDIT: It's my girlfriend bedroom. That explains the colors. biggrin.gif

I noticed some people braid their cables here for the q701's, if I were to do the same; would it damage the cable?

Nope! it won't damage your cable.  Most of us do it to make the cable shorter to the length we like.

In fact, the HD700 are already braided (yes, I did it). As well as the A900X and some others that I have around. Highly recommended. smily_headphones1.gif

You know when you are an audiophile when you marry someone because they let you put a rig in their bedroom!

There were other reasons as well, but you know how are audiophiles are... In the end, that's a choice for the rest of your life. biggrin.gif

Good stuff, yeah I'm pretty lucky in that regards too. I've got a big rig in the living room and by my bedside. Wife is cool about it... Keeps me off the streets

That happens to me as well, she wanted to go to do some shopping and I was like... really! I just want to lay down and listen to music! Come on!

Could someone help summarizing the amps at different price range that work well with Q701?

That would be very helpful.

I saw M-stage, O2, E9, Headroom micro amp, Schiit Lyr, etc. Any other recommendations I have missed?

Schiit Vali is one of my new favorite amps for the Q701. Great mix there.
