It does not pair well with OTL from my experience. Impedence mismatch causes wildly boomy and uncontrolled bass. I tried the Valhalla, and the Little Dot MKiii.
The WA6 is pretty good. On the slightly cheaper side, a Lyr is great. Little Dot II+ is good, too. Pretty warm
I often use my Qs with a La Figaro 336C.
This is an OTL tube amp, so it has a fairly high output impedance.
It is equipped with NOS tubes.
The stock tubes do not get along with the Q701, they just sound rather bland, but I really like this amp with the Q701 when NOS tubes are used. The 'phones do not sound boomy at all. OTOH, the amp does not sound ultra tubey, i.e warm and lush. It just sounds clean, clear and nicely balanced with a bit of that tube midrange magic.
