I don't exactly have the ability to do something like buy off of a forum, so Amazon it is!

Edit: I've heard from some that amps can blow out headphones, is there a way your supposed to plug it in? I've heard some talk about plugging it in before turning the amp on or plugging it after it is on, I don't know which one I'm supposed to do...

Here has tariffs about on everything...=/

The costs of fiio (per exemple), is not only the tariffs..there are here "profit Brazil" :  " the people pays, for what I will low the price"?

I will still consider buying the magni schiit.... if customs house allow....

I bought the Q series on ears and absolutely love them.  They are my new portables but havent taken the plunge into the Q701. Anyone know if they share the same tone? I had the 272's and didnt care for the lack of base?

If by the Q Series on ears you mean the Q460 then no, they most certainly do not share the same sound signature. The Q460 are a fun headphone, but are voiced for a lot of bass, and are certainly not a neutral sounding headphone. The Q701 on the other hand is a very neutral headphone. My recommendation to you is try before you buy. If your expecting the same amount of bass response then you'll be disappointed.

The 272s have less bass then the Q701s, but they also have a ton less treble then them, the response chart even looks dark to me...

And the rest of the headphones in the Q line... Jeez... the 460s lack treble at all, and the 350s decided they needed all the bass. Nothing like the Q701s at all.

Do NOT look at graphs to decide what a can will sound like!

For example, the HE-400 has a Treble Spike at around 7k-13k (If i remember correctly), however, to me, this was not audible, and they were wayyyyy too dark for me, while the graphs indicate they would be treble-happy.

Just something to think about. Graphs can be generally helpful, but you can't always tell.

What...

Am I looking at the same headphone? That thing has no treble at all... Sure, the treble comes back around 8 KHZ, but that won't fix the lack of treble...

And its not that graphs can't be overly helpful, its just the more skill you have reading them, the more you can tell how the sound works, because every frequency is in relation to each other. even a small 1 db change at 2000 hz to 4000 hz changes EVERYTHING about the headphone.

I'm still loving my Q701. It's so clear and big sounding and the bass has this razor sharp quickness to it. The bass isn't exactly impactful, but the speed is just so nice and tight. I do still use a 2db bass boost from my E17 which brings the bass to exactly the level I prefer. I've also been cheating on my Q701 with a T50rp, but I keep coming back to the Q701.

I just snagged a pair 2 weeks back for $140 on craigslist.  Couldn't believe it, but I notice that the same person is once again selling a pair for $140.  Any chance these are knock offs?  I have a pair of k702 so they have a very similar sound.  I just wonder if I snagged an awesome deal or was taken?

I've never heard of Q701 fakes.  Do you have pics of it?  Does it have a serial number?

I HATED the 460's, but LOVE the Q701.

Q701s have been heavily discounted recently where I am, basically as they're going end of line (the K712 is effectively the replacement model). This is one of the reasons why I took the plunge. It's not inconceivable that a trader has overstocks of these and wants to dump them merely to get the money back. Besides the Q701s would be an expensive headphone to fake, and doesn't have the market presence to make it worthwhile producing knock offs. In other words the faker would lose money by producing fakes of the Q701.

Add that to the fact that the sound signature is very similar to the K702 that you have leads me to believe that you've just grabbed yourself a very nice bargain.

Graphs are good, but don't only look at graphs is what I'm saying, they lie sometimes

Wait, they came out with a new one? When did this happen? Supposedly it has more bass, which might be slightly useful...
